Assemblywoman Catharine B. Baker (R-San Ramon), whose district includes Pleasanton, announced this week that Gov. Jerry Brown signed her bill requiring the Toll Bridge Program Oversight Committee (TBPOC) to be subject to the Bagley-Keene Open Meetings Act.

The TBPOC was established for the sole purpose of providing project oversight and project control for California’s Toll Bridge Seismic Retrofit Program, including the new East Span of the Bay Bridge.

The committee, however, had not been subject to the Open Meetings Act or the Brown Act, Baker noted. “There will now be, for the first time, a law protecting Bay Area residents’ right to know what is discussed during the TBPOC meetings, and any actions or decisions made by the committee,” she added.

  1. It is about time. The mere fact information is withheld from those who pay the bills is idiotic.

    Our politicians have had it their way for too long.

    Would suggest all those sitting I office at this time release information as to those LOBBISTS who have footed the bills for our elected officials. Then explain what they did for this money.
