The Alameda County Registrar of Voters office released updated election results late Saturday as staff members completed another full day of post-Election Day ballot counting from Tuesday’s general election.

Updates posted to the Registrar’s website, http://www.acgov.org/rov/ reflect an additional 47,045 ballots that were counted since the Registrar’s last update on Friday afternoon.

Registrar of Voters Tim Dupuis said that only about 24,000 votes remain to be processed countywide.

The latest results show that Alameda County has counted ballots submitted by 337,436 voters.

The vote count will continue Sunday and updates will be posted on the Registrar’s website at about 5 p.m. each day until ballot-counting is completed. The counting is likely to continue into next week, Dupuis said.

Under State law, Alameda County has until Dec. 2 to certify its election results.

  1. The problem now are all those permanent absentee voters (vote by mail) who send in their ballots at the last minute or deliver those ballots to the polling location. Those all have to have their signatures verified and make sure they did not vote more than once with provisional or in-poll.

If you think things are bad now, wait until they allow people to register to vote at the polls.

The system is so messed up.

  2. Alameda County has been counting votes for over one hundred years.
What is it about an election that votes cannot get counted in a timely manner? If election returns was privatized, the results would be tabulated before next mornings coffee.

  3. I believe technology can resolve a number of those issues utilizing wireless technology with combination pass word, GPS, Social Security I.D.,
Parcel number, etc. I believe it can be done.

  4. People must register to vote. It is not anonymous. Technology can use finger print recognition, facial recognition. Place thumb print on cell phone screen, scan it, send it along with the vote. If finger print is not on file, the vote is not counted. It would take some time to work out the details. But can be done. I would produce an app for it.
