Multiple gunshots were fired in a Stoneridge Shopping Center parking lot, with apparently nobody injured and those responsible escaping on Tuesday afternoon, according to Pleasanton police.
Officers were still at the scene into the early evening to investigate while the mall remained fully open for business throughout the happenings, according to Lt. Erik Silacci.
The situation unfolded around 2:20 p.m. Tuesday when reports came into emergency dispatch about shots being fired outside Stoneridge Mall, according to Silacci. Officers arrived to the “E” parking lot and found two vehicles with bullet holes along with several shell casings.
“Shortly thereafter, officers received information that a subject entered the mall and fled through another exit. Officers conducted a search of the shopping center and the surrounding area, and they were unable to locate any involved subjects,” Silacci said. “As of now, we do not have any updated information on the suspect(s).”
The department had not received reports of any injuries related to the incident as of Tuesday afternoon, according to the lieutenant.
Stoneridge Mall was not closed or evacuated at any point during the police response as officers determined those responsible for the gunshots had already fled the area before police arrived, according to Silacci.
Police did put out a notice on social media around 3 p.m. Tuesday urging people to avoid the mall area due to the police activity.
Anyone who may have witnessed the gunshots or have other information regarding the case can contact the Pleasanton Police Department at 925-931-5100.

So go ahead, hit the freeway, risk that dangerous 580/680 exchange at Dublin, use up gasoline, increase your carbon footprint by driving unnecessary miles, contribute to the smog conditions in the Valley, and give those tax dollars to Walnut Creek instead of leaving them here at the home you have loved for 26 years. Give ’em a little more when you have lunch in Walnut Creek instead of eating here, supporting one of our own hometown struggling businesses.
Just be prepared to recognize that as things are less to your liking in Pleasanton, you are part of the problem, when you could instead be part of the solution.

A Third World country is an outdated and offensive term for a developing nation characterized by a population with low and middle incomes, and other socio-economic indicators.
Take a walk down the streets in our community and what you may find is well- but casually-dressed folks whose skin color may vary from yours, their facial features may vary from yours, but they have the incomes to buy goods and services just as good as if not better than yours. Hardly third world.
Instead, I believe we are a more advanced community, by and large, who has the educationallevel and sense of humanity that embraces and learns from those newer communities of people who are choosing to and have the means to live here. There is a lot of culture to learn from them, and we would all do well by opening up our minds and hearts to those ideals and smarten up our own thinking. We are not an island unto ourselves. We are, and should be global partners in making this whole world a better place.
There should be no room for xenophobia in our hometown.
Jake, FYI, PPD has an outpost across the street where the bart entrance is. Also, the proposed housing was for the old JC Penny Cost Plus Lot. Thats not happening. Instead that site is being demolished and a biotech company is building a HQ there.
When the people of the county voted to send BART out this way, along with it came dense housing.

Nordstrom and Sears close their stores nationwide and that’s because their businesses are failing. It probably makes more sense to blame Livermore outlets or even Amazon rather than BART.
Pleasanton turning into Fremont due to diversity/multiculturalism with an obvious demographic replacement. Wasn’t like this over a decade ago. Import the 3rd world become 3rd world.

We are not importing the third world. We are importing the best and the brightest from around the entire world. They come here to work in Silicon Valley, and they have done nothing but improve our standard of living and educational systems. These are the people we want to come to America. They aren’t here to replace you, sad truth is that you are not qualified for the jobs they do. They have the best of American work ethics and Family values. Sadly, on the other hand, we still have too many in this country who represent the worst of American legacy, bigotry and paranoia.
Looking at these comments does not surprise me coming from those living here in Pleasanton. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU calling those who are not white that they MUST be from a 3rd world country? What does that even have to do with the post?? Typical snobby, entitled racists who think Pleasanton must remain white. If you think only those of color commit crime you need to pick up another paper other than the Pleasanton Weekly. Willy, Joseph (if those are even your real names) you are the problem. And people then wonder why racism still exists? It is because you are sending that message. Ignorance is bliss in Ptown.
Have to agree with the calls against the 3rd world commentary, its out of place and wrong.
There are definitely some things I wish newcomers (of all backgrounds) to our neighborhoods and schools would adopt – i.e. volunteering in the classroom, donations, donating time to athletic clubs, etc that I feel those that made Pleasanton an attractive destination with great schools embraced. I think with the increased prices in rents/homes/services there is more of an “entitled” well I paid for that already so I shouldn’t have to…. mentality. And I can somewhat understand it, but its wrong. I also feel the assimilation into a single community vs specific pockets of like people – again based on familiarity with backgrounds which is understandable, needs to be better.
Though I will say…….and maybe a personal pet peeve..I really don’t get the “I bought a $1.X+M home and am letting my yard deteriorate group”. I know there are existing people in Pleasanton with the same upkeep issues, but they didn’t just buy in at record prices….that one blows my mind.
So, I think its fair to disagree with certain behaviors of newcomers, but they should be highlighted for the specific behavior and open discussion, not some incorrect general grouping that only builds walls and offends.
We can be better.
This ticks people off regardless of race or socioeconomic status. And rightfully so.
