Missionaries Provide Service During Pandemic

Missionaries of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints assigned to the Pleasanton and Dublin areas are providing service to local agencies during the pandemic. Normally they spend their time proselyting and teaching the gospel, but the twelve missionaries assigned to this area are focused on helping with local service, especially in distributing food to those in need.

During a typical week, they assist at the Fairgrounds where Tri-Valley Haven and Open Heart Kitchen distribute food, at Alisal and Pleasanton Middle School where the Pleasanton Unified School District distributes food to in-need students and their families and at the St. Raymond Catholic Church Food Bank. Maggie Ringle, head of the St. Raymond Food Bank said “Our food bank has benefited from the generosity of their time and commitment to the mission of helping others. It has been a privilege to work with the missionaries from the LDS Faith Community.”
The missionaries also help sort clothing and diapers for Hively and help with donations at the American Cancer Discovery Store.

Missionaries recently assisted Senior Support of the Tri-Valley by cleaning a 94-year-old lady’s yard and cleaned another lady’s carpet. They will be assisting in providing shopping bags of toiletries for Senior Support’s “Adopt a Senior for Christmas” project.

For the St. Raymond Thanksgiving Food Baskets, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints also donated 100 turkeys and turkey roasts, potatoes, green beans, cake mixes, and stuffing from their local Bishops’ Storehouse. The Storehouse also donates food to Open Heart Kitchen with a large order monthly.

Last Saturday the missionaries split their service between the St. Raymond Food Bank and the Pleasanton Military Families Packout which was held at the outdoor pavilion of the LDS Vineyard chapel

To find volunteer opportunities go to, where over 70 service opportunities for Tri-Valley residents are posted.
