The regional COVID-19 testing site at the Alameda County Fairgrounds for residents of Pleasanton, Dublin and Livermore will continue operating through August, Pleasanton city officials announced Friday.
The hours will reduce by one for the weekday-only testing site, running from 9 a.m. to noon, starting on Monday (July 13). The supply allows for a maximum of 200 individual tests per day.
The drive-thru operation is open to any resident of the three cities, 10 years old or older, regardless of symptoms — with no appointment necessary and no out-of-pocket expense. The testing is to determine whether a person is currently infected with COVID-19, according to Pleasanton city officials.
“With daily testing capacity being reached, and the county continuing to consider the next phase of reopening, we felt it was critical the test site remain open through August. At which time, we will re-evaluate the continued need,” Pleasanton City Manager Nelson Fialho told the Weekly.
“We are thankful for our city partners, Dublin and Livermore, as well as Stanford Health Care-ValleyCare for their expertise and the Alameda County Fairgrounds for providing the space to host this important East County resource in Pleasanton,” he added.
The program debuted on April 27, and for the first three weeks, participants needed to meet at least one of the pre-set criteria such as COVID-19 symptoms, known or suspected exposure, or fall into an at-risk category. On May 18, organizers opened the testing up to all residents of the three cities (10 years old and above), including those asymptomatic.
The testing center, which had had a weekly capacity of 1,200 individual tests, was scheduled to cease operations this Friday (July 10) before the partner agencies agreed to extend it through Aug. 31.
Now with a limit of 1,000 tests per week, the facility will be open from 9 a.m. to noon Mondays through Fridays — for up to 200 individual tests per day. If the site reaches capacity before noon, a sign will be posted at the Gate 12 entrance to the fairgrounds, officials said.
Test results can take up to 72 hours to arrive. Patients will need to provide a phone number or email address to receive their result and follow-up information, officials said.
“Testing is available to patients with or without a physician order. All insurances are accepted and will be billed, but there will be no out-of-pocket costs. Those without insurance will have the cost of testing waived. Cash pay fees are waived,” Dublin city officials said.
The testing site can be accessed via the fairgrounds’ Gate 12, located off Valley Avenue in Pleasanton.

It is time for a third major political party. I researched the Libertarian Party and just re-registered to vote this past week. Check it out, or any other party for that matter. This red vs blue stuff needs to stop because as with all civil wars, it’s the civilians that suffer the most and I have been to 30+ countries and have seen it firsthand.

All you need is phone number or email? How do they check they are Tri Valley residents only? How do they log the person’s residence address to go towards number of cases per city? Oh….they don’t. They just add them to Pleasanton’s case numbers if no other address is given. The numbers are such a joke.

It’s a drive-thru location. They ask for your driver’s license and insurance info. Your phone number and email aren’t listed on those documents so you have to provide it separately.
Calm down and follow the advice of public health officials. That’s the best way to get back to “normal” as soon as possible.

The cases have risen in Pleasanton from about 90 or so three weeks ago to 156.
At this rate, it will be in the 200’s by next week. I hope everyone decides to shelter in place in the meanwhile in order to keep their families safe.
Sooooo scary, 156 cases (majority recovered in 2 weeks ) out of 82,372 Pleasanton residents. Give me a break with the socialist fear mongering.
We went to the testing site at the fairground last week: 3 times and were unable to get tested. 1) The testing was closed one day 2) Closed down by 10am and ran out of tests. It opened at 9am. 3) Ran out on another day within 2 hours of opening.
