The Livermore Airport will hold its 19th annual public open house Saturday and at the same time will celebrate the 50th anniversary at its current location.

The 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. free event will include aerobatic performances from 11 a.m. to noon and again from 2:30-3:30 p.m. The aerobatics will be performed by Jacquie Warda, Frank Donnelly, Vicky Benzing and Yuichi Takagi.

Pilots with the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) will be on hand to provide an introduction to aviation for youth ages 8 – 17. Youngsters may also sign up for a “Young Eagles” flight at a future date. A parent must accompany those signing up.

Food trucks from the “Food Truck Mafia” will be on site, with FM station KKIQ broadcasting from the event and be giving away prizes.

Activities for children will include: face painting, card tricks, magic tricks, crafts and more.

Flight schools will provide information on learning to fly, obtaining a pilot certificate and buying scenic flights around the Bay Area and gift tickets.

The Flying Electrons will have a display of radio-controlled aircraft.

Aircraft to be displayed will include warbirds, homebuilt planes, aerobatic, antique and classic aircraft as well as planes used for general aviation. CALSTAR will display a medivac helicopter; the Coast Guard will display a Dolphin search and rescue helicopter, and the CHP will show one of its law enforcement aircraft.

In addition the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department will have a fire engine on display and Livermore Police will have their mobile command post open for tours.

Small group tours for Scouts, senior living facilities and other special groups are available.

The Livermore Municipal Airport is located at 680 Terminal Circle, off Airway Boulevard and just south of the Airway exit on I-580.

  1. I am working in a resume writing service company.I don’t have a hell of a considerable measure of involvement with little airplane terminals, yet contrasted with the little one in Montana we invested energy in and the shelter my FIL offers in Oregon, this spot is really darned awesome.
