A kitchen fire caused an estimated $45,000 in damages to Zorn’s Restaurant in the Hopyard Village Shopping Center at 3015 Hopyard Road Sunday afternoon.

The restaurant was closed at the time and there were no injuries.

Battalion Chief Joe Testa of the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department said the fire was quickly contained to the area near the kitchen stove.

“It was a good thing the fire happened when it did, as there were people in the area who saw the smoke and reported the fire,” an unidentified firefighter told Pleasanton Weekly photographer Jay Flachsbarth at the scene. “If this had happened in the middle of the night, the outcome would have been much different.”

.

Alameda County firefighters joined the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department in extinguishing the fire, first reported at 3:53 p.m. Testa said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
