The Pleasanton Police Department is asking people to keep their eyes open for a 15-year-old girl who has been reported missing.

The girl, Shelby Harris, was last seen by friends and family on Halloween day at Amador Valley High School. She told her parents that she would return home at the end of the school day.

Harris is white, 5 foot 7 inches and approximately 140 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a Halloween costume consisting of a red cape, red shirt, blue jeans, black high heels, and a Mardi Gras mask.

A police investigation has determined Harris is most likely in the company of Gavin McFate, 25, who is wanted on an Alameda County felony arrest warrant. McFate is a white male, 6 foot 3 inches, approximately 210 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

McFate and Harris were last seen in the Concord area on the morning of Nov. 1. They may be in a black late ’90s model Honda Accord or Civic.

It is unknown at this time if Harris is with McFate voluntarily or against her will.

Anyone with information that may aid in the ongoing investigation and the recovery of Harris is urged to contact the Pleasanton Police Department at 931-5100.

    Based on what is in this article no. You’d be surprised how many “missing” people there are out there. If there was an Amber Alert for each of them it would desensitize the public and they would no longer pay attention to them. Amber Alerts are for only the most serious cases. Reading between the lines this appears to be a runaway case and does not meet the criteria.

  4. If there is a car description, I believe it qualifies for an Amber Alert, particularly if they don’t know if she is with this man against her will or not. In my opinion, we are nowhere close to being desensitized to missing children.

    That’s fine what you believe in, but look at California’s Amber Alert guidelines – it doesn’t appear to meet the requirements based on what is in this story. Having a car description doesn’t mean it qualifies for Amber Alert status. Again, reading between the lines this appears to be a runaway which specifically isn’t allowed for Amber Alerts

  8. Wow I was unaware of all the incencitive people in this world who only really give a shit when its there children. Have some damn compassion, i happend to also know this girl personally and even had i not i would still have just as much concern. This again just shows me how selfish this day in age has become……

  9. During a time like this, when there is so much unknown criticisisms from others do not aide in the process of finding Shelby. To the people who posted the insensitive statements, instead channnel your efforts to actually help with this search – why don’t you post the link to this article to your twitter, Facebook or any new media program. Spread the word and have some sympathy regardless of your opinions- because remember at some point we were all teeenagers and can relate to the pressure, influence and even confusion from peers.
