GOP wins, takes Kennedy seat, voters spoke against healthcare "reform"

First Context, your link about past presidents is of little value. This is about Mass. and issues. The state of Mass is 51% Independent !! that is staggering ! The Dems are slightly under 40% and Repubs slightly over 10%...but Independents make up the 51%. That's why in Sen Brown's (he was already a state senator)acceptance he said thanks for all your independent votes.....meaning independent thinkers, as opposed to the state's Dem 'machine'. This was about very EXPENSIVE health care. This was about the corrupt secret deals behind closed doors. Deals like the $300mill to Nebraska to BUY Dem. Sen. Nelson's vote. Now Nebraskans are so mad & humiliated they don't want any part in it and Nelson now won't vote for it after all.
Last week was the final straw with the very secret behind locked doors meeting with the GM unions and all PUBLIC employee unions. Now they won't have to pay the tax on the value of their very superior 'cadillac medical plans'....however, EVERYBODY else WILL be MADE to PAY a tax on their plans and now it will be even more to pick up the slack. That kind of corrupt deals with special interest stinks...really stinks !. Dem Sen Jim, next door to Mass. sent a congrat note to Brown, that senate should not do anything until new Sen Brown is seated. It was corrupt in the first place to even appoint such a short term fill-in for the seat...this was a speedy election & there should never have been a senate vote with that temp...again, stinky. Swear in duly elected Brown before going any further. !! This all has to do with POLICY and corrupt methods. they all better access that.

Scott Brown's win is fantastic news and a clear sign that the average American is fed-up with the liberal-agenda and failures of the Obama Administration. Hopefully the likes of Boxer, Pelosi, Reid and their ilk will face similar fates. However, I don't see this necessarily as a GOP win; this is a conservative win. The GOP's band of dinosaurs "serving" us in Washington and Sacramento also need to be booted out. Let's all pray (if that isn't too offensive to anyone) that voters are realizing that we've been sold down the river by career politicians. Get your pitchforks and throw them all out....that's rising unemployment that I would like to see.

I beg to differ with you, Happy. Saying an analysis of past political trends is of little value is extremely short sighted, though I guess that's not surprising. If Kennedy were still alive and this was a regular term election, all these independents would not be voting him out of office - and it's not even as though Brown is hard right.

Hopefully a chastened President and congress will now focus on the economy and figure out how to get millions of people back to work.

I always vote democrat, but if an election were held today, and a GOP person were to campaign with the promise to do what he can to block the ridiculous healthcare bill, you bet he would have my vote.

I remember getting a call from the Obama folks "organizing for America" to get me to donate money to promote healthcare. I told them to go jump in the lake, yes I voted for Obama but I am highly disappointed in his administration so far.

And the healthcare bill must NOT pass, it will hurt those who are already insured, it will create an even bigger deficit, and it still does not do much to reform the real problems with healthcare. Not to mention that Nebraska would get 100 percent medicare costs covered, just to get the vote! NO, NO, NO!

Obama, are you listening? Stop trying to say that this does not reflect on your administration. IT DOES!

Hmmmmm . . . Food for thought . . . maybe Brown's win is because he looks good naked. From a conservative viewpoint, I guess that would be called getting down to basics and putting your family values out there for everyone to see.

I'd bet though, that that kind of stripped down policy would only work for a man. A woman who had posed nude for publication would never be elected - no matter what her politics were.

MoeMentum, you are both wrong and clueless....intentionally denying reality by believing it was a conservative win. This was Scott Brown's 10th election in Mass. He made a very big point that he was working with and for and got the votes of Mass 51% Independents....the 10% Repubs were tiny mixtures of common sense Repubs, conservative Repub, & moderate Repubs. So with 51% Independents, how could you twist that into a conservative win ?? You're the kind that again, and again, and will do again, pick a conservative in a primary....that you know cannot win in NOV. Then come NOV say the dam Dems won again !! Well, duh ! You have to pick electable candidates to have NOV victories. You still think having your 'favorite conservative'win a primary is a victory. You're suppose to pick the one that can beat the DEM..then it's a victory, but not until then. It's both stupid and cruel to your children to help a Dem get elected. BTW Is the wife you picked 100% perfect ?? or did you settle for less than 100% in every catagory ??

Remember Brown said this was bigger than referendum on Obama. He must think he's the best Repub since sliced bread. What an inflated ego!

Republicans are so delusional that they see the failure of America as a win for them. I hope they remember that when they lose their jobs or loved ones to lack of access to health care.

You are one twisted individual Janna. The failure of Obama's progressive agenda is not the failure of America. The Obama agenda has meant only increasing unemployment so far, another reason it needs to be defeated to restore America. And to boot, you had super-majorities in Congress plus the White House for a year and failed to pass your sacred health care takeover. And for the same reason. Reasonable Americans, and there are some in the Democrat Party, refuse to have the agenda controlled by progressives.

Your suggestion is to improve my chilren's future by voting for the Arnold Schwartzeneggers and George Bushes that are presented to us? That's worked well. You're troubled that I used the word "conservative" which you seem to equate to "extremist". You're also assuming that an Independent is a moderate. In both instances you are "wrong and clueless". Substitute "independent" for "conservative" in my post and see it still makes you so angry. My point was that this isn't necessarily a win for the Republican party but perhaps a win for those fed up with the status quo.

Your rant leads me to believe you're a Republican. I'd say your part of the reason the GOP is so weak and ineffective. Have a nice time at the country club.
