NFL Shutdown So My Sundays Just Opened Up
Original post made by Ex-Football Fan, Another Pleasanton neighborhood, on Mar 13, 2011
Slowly, ever so slowly, the athletes have become spoiled kids flaunting their millions and basically becoming anti-heroes to our kids. Owners built lavish stadiums and racked up the prices so high that going to a game just got out of reach for an average (yet not poor) guy like me. Now this, the NFL debacle of greed. I'm sorry, but this reminds me of the banking crisis where trillions of our tax dollars bailed out our financial institutions and greedy executives scooped multi-million dollar bonuses from the till with no regard for the situation at hand.
I am appalled and sickened by the avarice and pure greed of the players, the owners and the supporting cast who create this situation. What's my solution. Well, my wife always told me that Sunday afternoons were a perfect time to go out and smell the roses, take a walk in the park, visit a friend, hold hands down Main Street over brunch. You know what? She might be right. And the more I think about it, it doesn't sound that bad.
