The conservatives have been throwing everything including the kitchen sink at Obama for 4 months now in an unprecedented onslaught of negative partisan politics, and their attacks have become increasingly desperate and ridiculous. Read below for a list of the 30 most pathetic lies, smears, distortions, and conspiracy theories they have used.

Why is the right wing lambasting the president in such a way? In my opinion, the answer is simple: they are following the exact same playbook they used in 1992 after the election of Bill Clinton. They start by obstructing and attacking. The Democrats usually respond with an increasingly elevated voice of their own, leading to the popular conception that BOTH parties are bad and guilty for the mudslinging. Next will come the calls for terms limits (the same call that suddenly vanished after the GOP took over congress in 1994). Finally, some ploy similar to the failed 'Contract With America' will be headlined by the supposedly 'new' GOP during midterms in 2010 in an attempt to retake the House and Senate, effectively hamstringing Obama and the movement for change in this country.

In any case, a simple google search can find even more than those listed below, including a huge collection by internet wingnuts johswift and Alex Jones . To debunk these claims, FightTheSmears, ObamaConspiracyTheories,, TruthObama and Wikipedia are good resources. Always keep the truth on your side, and the moral high ground will be yours. Anyways, feel free to use these links liberally and on with the show:

In my opinion, the accusations against Barack Obama have created a climate of hate that makes the unthinkable possible. In fact, the type of accusations leveled at him would lead the irrational to consider the killing of Obama a reasonable act given the terrible things the new President is accused of doing now and planning to do in the future, much of which has no foundation in truth.
Below are some prime headline examples, many listed by “Unknown News,” and there are many more that could be cited, including those media sources that called Obama an “unpatriotic” "elitist" “who lies about his faith”
The list also doesn’t include the same type of hyped aggressive taunts and accusations that preceded the election and continued up to and since the inauguration:
Obama Breeds Climate of Hate Against Jews
My Muslim President Obama -
Scheuer: Obama doesn't care 'about protecting this country'
Obama is worse than Adolf Hitler and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, says arch-right bigwig Kaloogian
Fox Nation: Obama's census castrates Caucasians
Hill advances claim that Obama is "siding" with Chavez and Cuba
Levin labels Obama's policies "Bernie Madoff times a thousand. He is taking a wrecking ball to this society"
Limbaugh: Obama administration creating chaos so people "will sign up for your agenda"
Limbaugh: Obama led Dems "into doing everything he could to ensure the defeat of the US military"
Limbaugh: "I don't know" where Obama was born, "supposedly Hawaii"
National Review's Sowell warns of nuclear attack, America under Sharia law
Fox's Morris warns that the "Declaration of Independence has been repealed"
Obama Abortion Agenda
So let’s add this up. Obama, who isn’t a citizen of the United States, wants the country to be Communist, then will align himself with Iranian terrorists and consequently impose Sharia law. He wants the military to be defeated, to destroy the economy, and is interested in virtually annihilating Caucasians in order to impose the will of blacks and homosexuals on U.S. society to the extent he would likely imprison, torture, and murder them in great numbers, just like Adolph Hitler. If anyone seeks to destroy the country, Obama will likely step aside and let it happen or work towards making it happen. Besides that he advocates killing babies and will do everything he can to make that possible.
Well, given all that, why would any red-white-and-blue loyal American want to see a leader like that live long enough to destroy the country and all its sacred institutions, then refuse to step down from authority and become a dictator.
Gee, Obama has only been in office six months and is that dangerous? Wouldn’t this be a good reason to do anything to stop him from doing all the damage folks say he plans to do?
Would a Republican President be accused of all this type of anti-American, disloyal, un-American activities and at the same time not a citizen? What type of political and social climate is created with this type of speech?
Given the American history of Presidential assassination, it might behoove those who speak in hateful ways to examine what could happen as a result of the atmosphere created by such rhetoric. Decades after the assassination of John F. Kennedy, many politicians try to side with the Kennedy image, his abilities and his policies, when during the period before he was elected, and the short time of his Presidency, he was vilified for his civil rights agenda.

Sleaze charge: 'I took drugs, had homo sex with Obama'
Minnesota man takes his case to court, YouTube, $100,000 polygraph challenge

Larry Sinclair accuses Barack Obama of homosexual acts and drug use in video posted on YouTube

WASHINGTON – The electrifying presidential campaign of Barack Obama faces a new challenge – a Minnesota man who claims he took cocaine in 1999 with the then-Illinois legislator and participated in homosexual acts with him.

When his story was ignored by the news media, Larry Sinclair made his case last month in a YouTube video, which has now been viewed more than a quarter-million times. And when it was still ignored by the media, Sinclair filed a suit in Minnesota District Court, alleging threats and intimidation by Obama's staff.

Sinclair, who says he is willing to submit to a polygraph test to validate his claims, will now get his chance – thanks to a website offering $10,000 for the right to record it and $100,000 to Sinclair if he passes.

"My motivation for making this public is my desire for a presidential candidate to be honest," Sinclair told WND by telephone. "I didn't want the sex thing to come out. But I think it is important for the candidate to be honest about his drug use as late as 1999."

(Story continues below)

Sinclair, who lives in Duluth and describes himself as "gay," claims he "personally engaged in sexual activity and personally used illegal drugs in November 1999" with the man who is now the leading Democratic presidential candidate. He claims the activity took place in the back of Sinclair's limousine and occurred again, later, in his hotel. Sinclair also says he personally no longer uses drugs.

In his lawsuit, filed last week, he charges his civil rights have been violated by Obama and the Democratic Party. Named as defendants in the case are the presidential candidate, David Axelrod of AKP Message and Media in Chicago and the Democratic National Committee.

Sinclair charges Obama smoked crack cocaine in the limo while Sinclair snorted powdered cocaine provided by the legislator. He says the two met in an upscale Chicago lounge before leaving in Sinclair's limousine where the drug use and sex took place for the first time.

Sinclair says he is a registered Democrat but has never voted for any candidate. He is 46 and claims to be physically disabled.

He says he was not physically impaired in 1999 when the alleged incidents with Obama took place.

Why has the right committed themselves to so many ridiculous smears? Probably something like 90% of trashy chain mail rumors are perpetrated by Republicans as attacks on Obama. I mean it's disgusting.

These people have the likes of Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, Conservapedia, AnswersInGenesis, trashy-chain mail messages, ridiculous internet videos by users with names like: "ObamaDeception", crappy hate-spreading videos about Islam, racist and inane and outright ugly websites like, and even more ugly ad ridden websites like WorldNetDaily that read like tabloids.

Seriously. How can anyone wonder why Republicans are loosing left and right? They have become the party of hate, ugliness, ineffectiveness, consumerism, lies, smears, pathetic and outright ridiculous attacks, and of course, extremism.

The only reason that they haven't been completely kicked out is because unfortunately this appeals to a large portion of the American public.

Obama is not going down in flames - thanks for the additional extreme rhetoric. Every President drops in the polls after the election.
Let's keep focused on the point of this thread, which is that if one were to believe the picture of Obama being painted by right, he would seem a very threatening character indeed. It is typical right wing BS and is just what they used against Clinton, except to a more dangerous, inflammatory, and hateful degree - a sign of greater desperation on their part.
I would love to hear legitimate arguments on legitimate issues from the Republican side, but I mostly hear people like Sarah Palin talking about "evil death panels." Ridiculous nonsense. I hope this is not a sign of the level of intelligence in this country.

"I would love to hear legitimate arguments on legitimate issues from the Republican side"

Ok, this country is broke. We have no MONEY! That means we can't buy things. But health care is FREE, anything the government wants is FREE! We just say it is and it is so! We print more money if we need it, no big deal.

"I hope this is not a sign of the level of intelligence in this country."

The scary thing is that you think you represent the "intelligent" part of society.
