Freedom in America is on the Brink. The Time is NOW. You Must Choose Sides.

Original post made by Concerned American, Another Pleasanton neighborhood, on Jul 16, 2009

With the news today that in New York City, the high income earners should expect a tax rate of 57 percent, that is not freedom. That is being controlled by our Government. And this tax rate will devastate NYC's economy.

Given that our Federal Government has now taken majority ownership of our banking and auto industry, with the massive debt that will take generations to pay off, it comes down to this...

If Obama's national health system and the Cap & Trade bill are passed, (both supported by McNerney) America as we know it is OVER, DONE, FINISHED, DEFEATED. SUBORDINATE TO CHINA.

You MUST choose sides now.

Or Being Controlled by Obama's Federal Government

If you cannot chose at this time, you MUST study history...and fast. Since public schools do not typically cover the differences between capitalism vs. economies the other end of the continuum ranging from socialism to marxism to communism, you have to do the research on your own.

Regardless of your politics, you MUST realize that we are headed in the opposite direction of capitalism. If this is your preference, then you should be pleased with Obama and the Democrat-led congress.

If not, then ACT NOW to fight Obama's agenda. Otherwise, America as we knew it is GONE for generations.

Concerned American,

You have lots of right-wing, Glenn Beck-style fear mongering on this post. When you say "You MUST choose sides now", it reminds me of the divisive, us vs. them, Karl Rove mentality that has hurt our country over the last 8 years. I also love how you are so worried about the 1.5% of disproportionately wealthy Americans that would be taxed. I guess fear and division is all you conservatives have to offer. How pathetic.

Concerned American,

Wow. You really take right-wing hate to a new level. Now go back down to your "doom bunker" and live in a world of fear.

The upper marginal rate for income tax was higher (too high) 30 years ago than 57%. Somehow freedom survived.

The originator of this post is accurate. The two who replied need to do more homework.

Such a tax on the highest of income earners will eviscerate NYC. The city depends largely upon these high earners for its tax base. If the city drives these earners away, which will likely be the case, the city will impose unbearable increases on small business. This will result in a much weaker economy there thru additional job loss, business closings, or at least no business growth...ALL THANKS TO DEMOCRATS.

"If Obama's national health system and the Cap & Trade bill are passed, (both supported by McNerney) America as we know it is OVER, DONE, FINISHED, DEFEATED. SUBORDINATE TO CHINA."

You seriously are living in a world of fear and panic, fed by the likes of hannity and Rush! You, like many are a step shy of declaring a civil war!

What happened to conservative "FAITH"?? Are you now playing GOD?

"subordinate to china"

Get a hold of your self woman!

If you right wing radicals keep this up, we are going to need jails to lock you up in, as you are becoming the biggest threat to America rapidly! Now that's when you will need to worry!

My guess is that you all are not interested in bonafide empirical research which forecasts a net job loss of Cap and Trade of nearly 4 million and possibly more (because the administrative costs of compliance are not included).

However, in the event that I am wrong and that you have any interest in the projected impact of Cap and Trade, here is a link to the research. If you just want to glance at charts, then page 8 and beyond might be worth reviewing.

I probably would not have worded myself as the author, but seriously, we are subordinate to china; how do you think we are bailing our companies out? Selling treasuries to China... if they don't buy, we print...what happens when we print...devaluation of dollar... hey..isn't Oil valued at USD; guess what, Crude Oil goes costs to our companies goes up...and we are all victims... printing money is very bad...and remember, China is concerned about it, and they were considering not buying our yeah, we ALL should be concerned about all the spending....

Get the rich..get the rich... I feel like this country is becoming a mob with lynching the rich on their agenda... I tell you what, I cheer for the rich...yes...I cheer...I am not rich...but I cheer for them...the more money they make, the more they contribute to the govt to help all of us why would you continue making it harder for them to make money/run businesses? let the rich do what they do best...and the govt gets a big cut of it...isn't the big problem of California...options..stock options...everyone was jealous of tech guys making millions...don't you all now wish that those guys were still making millons with options...or are you happy now that they are making nothing...and therefore state of ca lost billions in revenue because of it... next time...think twice about screwing the matter what you think..they do more good and more with less than any government could... all this tax the rich makes me sick to the stomach...

on york happy for him to leave...that is how dumb govt is...he lose millions in guy...and on federal many of you want the companies you work for go overseas? how that little 5% tax increase cost our govt in total revenue...

all this effort...spend that time investigating the goldman sachs deal...and the friends making out with zero/10% tax rates for helping bail outs and posting major profits with no taxes paid...good job govt... none of this concerns the democrats..all this for a change... you guys are crazy....i love this country..i am not moving out.... but i am for sure concerned about my healthcare...i have ppo...i tell dr..i need a test...i need to make sure to rule something out...well it didnt, but found another issue...thank god i did not have to go to a managed care...and because i did not have all the required symptoms for test...i would have been screwed.... yeah....Democrats...BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR, YOU MIGHT JUST GET IT... lol... good luck to you all...i am concentrating on my family and my kids first...govt want to tax me more...he can then take care of all charities...start calling obama..not my, i do not have that extra dollar for homeless shelter...i know who does though...he lives in a white house.... again...good luck all... as always..i wish prosperity to all...even you democrats....

oh ones that will never pay..and think it is fair pay estate tax...really...if it was a flat tax...why not...i need to be progressive on any inheritance...$1 or $10mil... how would you feel saved $ pass away... and before your three kids get anything...govt would take a $100k for themselves and leave only $33k to your kids? doesn't that at all concern you?????

to the guy who mentioned glen different then al gore on "global warming" wait...are the conservatives making any money on protecting our dollar..i guess so..indirectly...but al gore's company making a direct profit on cap and trade... sick...those friends in washington..all connected...

oh yeah, heck while i am at it and pissed off... when somehting like the cia program, that really wasnt, as they are saying it was a scenario on a power point presentation...already people jumping and screaming for a congressional hearing and must be bush's fault.... so tell me my fellow democrats...where in the hell is the investigation in the entire financial mess from the housing market and derivatives sold to get everyone into a home??? i wonder why the democrats are "silent" hearing crickets.... could it be...could it be that maybe, maybe...they know who is truly at fault..and as such...why would anyone want to investigate THEMSELVES....yeah... ok... good luck.... and is never a democrats must be those mean old republicans...they did it all...those republicans...wait...the same ones that own businesses that create jobs??? yes...they are the cause of all problems... give me a break...get a life...damn..i just wasted 5 minutes of my life writing this...i am mad....mad as hell

Well said, Drexl!

This nation is in trouble.

When Democrats finally wake up and realize who they voted for and what type of "change" Obama had in mind (which was never probed beyond the surface by the MSM), it may be too late for us all.

Even in Obama's book "Dreams..." Obama stated that when he had his brief work experience in the financial industry in NYC, he stated that was a "spy behind enemy lines." He despises the private sector, despises capitalism, despises our US Constitution because it is a charter of "negative liberties" as he stated. Now that he is President, he is still operating in a "spy" mode as it is his deliberate goal to bring down capitalism and the US economy.

If Obama succeeds, America as we've known it will fail.

Thanks for providing the link to the cap and trade study. And if it was published by someone other than the Heritage Foundation (conservative think tank out of D.C.), I might be more inclined to view it as an unbiased source of information. Here's a little background on the Heritage Foundation:

Here's a snapshot of their energy policy. Note the reference to the "worldwide hysteria" over global warming.

Stay cool - Do you consider GAO impartial? What orginizations would you consider impartial that if I post articles, maybe you would be more open to consider.

We can all spin numbers in any direction we want, all depends on the authors' intent, if that is your belief; whom do you trust? GAO good start? Let me know and then we can post some of their analysis and consider the state of our country.

I get both sides, the liberal view and the conservative; my very good friend is hard core liberal, and our discussions usually end up more on the 4th amendment than any other one; then the 10th; and the role of the federal vs state...and as such the president's role... and right now in our time, we ae seeing a shift in the balance of power, not between democrats and republicans; but within our govt and the three branches...checks and balance is gone...anyhow...let me know who you trust...and i will post articles that hopefully not scream the end of the USA; but more of, hey, stop, let's take a deep breath and think about what is going on here... I ask, WHY ALL THE RUSH to pass everything? What do they know, that they think once we the people get a hold off, will disapprove and vote them out of office...only reason to do everything NOW... don't you find that interesting? if they were doing such a great job with changes that we all want...why concern about the next election cycle and rush to act now? any time I rushed through projects...they were all a mess in the end.... how is your experience rushing through life? 1.5trillion dollars spent based on 2 months of work, behind closed doors, with no public discussion and imput from us...the people that they represent...does not that strike any cord of concern???? really???

Stacey is a registered user.

I haven't bothered to read this thread much. The statement in the headline that "You Must Choose Sides" is a big turn-off.

That's the biggest problem with politics today. Everything is being marginalized, like there's a side to choose. Whatever happened to there being only one side, the side of the United States of America, and everything else was trying to ensure that both majority and minority faction had equal representation?

I may need a little bit more time before I can choose sides. Being very very suspicious, I wonder who will be in charge of the money? Get the picture? If you can face me and look at me straight in the eye, then I'll know if you're telling the truth. Now, if there is nothing to fear, I might consider a few things. The time I heard Hillary Clinton raving about dodging bullets on the tarmack, I almost bust a gut laughing. After that I figured she should be a story teller.

I can assure you that I will do my best to choose sides soon and I don't mean maybe!!!!!

What is with the punctuation? Why all the "...", and the "????"? Is that some new way to write. To me it looks like your trying to sound like you're thirteen years old.

Why do we have to choose sides? How about the concept of working together?
