A lesson in Obama's socialism

Original post made by Get over it, Another Pleasanton neighborhood, on Jul 15, 2009

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had
never failed a single student before, but had once failed an entire

That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one
would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.

The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's plan".

All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.

After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy.

As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had
studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a
free ride too so they studied little.

The second test average was a D! No one was happy.

When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.

The scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all
resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of
anyone else.

All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that
socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.

Could not be any simpler than that.

If somebody is unable to understand THIS explanation, I have serious
doubts about their ability to even function in society, much less run
our country!

As the late Adrian Rogers said, "you cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.."

But Bush/McCain/Palin's socialism works differently. For Bush/McCain/Palin, if you're a wealthy investment banker, and your company made major campaign contributions (AIG, Bear Stearns, ...), then you can run your company into the ground and the tax payer will come bail you out and make sure your company doesn't fail.

Republicans believe in socialism and wealth redistribution. They just make sure the wealth gets redistributed to the wealthy.

Republicans: Socialism, but for the rich only.

Sounds as if this is a story that has been circulating for years, with the current use of "Obama" interchanged with other political figures/economic advisors.

But Obama is not a socialist. So this whole allegory is just stupid.
Listen, just because you keep calling Obama a socialist doesn't make it true. Why don't you get together with some other politically like-minded people and try to flesh out a party that represents your own ideology, rather than just trying to spread false accusations about the party that is currently in position?

You don't get it, do you? It doesn't matter how long it's been circulating, nor that Obama's name is used. Step outside party lines for a second and look at the principle behind this.

Love Palin, you do the same thing. I don't agree with the bailouts, particularly when they went to payouts to executives that ran companies into the ground. It's rewarding someone for slacking with money produced by hardworking people.

That's the point.

It does matter that Obama's name was used, because that implies that Obama is a socialist.
If you would like to engage in a debate about socialism, that's great. But that's not what you said here. You said "A Lesson in Obama's Socialism." And that doesn't exist. It has nothing to do with party lines.

You really have to wonder about people who cite chain emails & urban legends to make their point.

One thing is true: "socialist," at least as it applies to the President, is a pejorative, nothing more. It's baffling because there are plenty of legitimate areas of criticism to level at him.

Some of the Obama fans seem to be missing the whole point...

When the INCENTIVE to achieve is taken away (via higher taxes, handouts to failures, handouts to cronies, etc.), all of society loses.

Yes, Bush did some of those things. AND WAS WIDELY HATED FOR IT.

So why is Obama getting a pass from you when he's doing the exact same things?

Stop bringing up Bush. He's out of office now. The funny thing is that Obama is pretty much continuing all of Bush's failed policies. You likely had a better shot at "change" by voting for McCain and voting out all of Congress (rather than Obama and re-electing most of Congress).

Get over it... YOU lied and you got caught! That's the problem with you conservatives. Most of what you spit out is second hand jargon you read on a web site or heard from Hannity, Rush or the likes.

Then, you all change the story a hundred times as you pass it along, to suit your needs.

I have not heard ONE single original revelation about Obama, or democrats, or liberals in the last year!

You guys LOST, so deal with it and try to do something positive and productive in this society! Your anger is going to kill you!
