Were you denied a liquor license too?
I agree with UPSIDE DOWN. The Democrats are against America in so many ways. Since they are in power, without any checks and balances from Republicans, the Democrats are now are creating a New America in their own image.
If any "FDR or JFK Democrat" doesn't see the difference between their party "then" and "now" they are not paying attention.
Today's Democrat party wants to bring America DOWN to the level of a developing country...like Zimbabwe...that's where we are headed under Obama.
Our Flag at half-staff is accurate...for now. At the rate of Obama's change...if he were to be elected to a second term, we'd have an entirely unrecognizable flag flying in this country.
Wake up, Americans...especially Democrats!
And the Republicans are even more different from Hoover or Nixon. Republicans are now socialists. But Republican socialism is mainly for the wealthy. Sarah Palin wants a socialist future for America, but her socialism is for the wealthy.
Dear Love Palin:
In order to have a logical discussion with you, it requires a modicum of "logic"...which you obviously lack.
Seems like you, consistent with the majority of democrats, base your argument on "emotions" and "feelings" rather than "facts".
Upside Down and Mark,
I'm a registered Republican, but what is sad is my grandmother recently asked me to take her down to resigter as a Republican.
Mark - you hit the nail on the head when you referred to the Democrats of JFK then and the party now.
My grandmother, a dedicated Democrat party member since she was first married said she no longer recognizes the party and feels the Republican party better represents what she has always believed.
She's a smart cookie - and at 89 is taking a stand. Do what you gotta do - fly a flag upside down or change parties to send a message. This is a culture war at this point.
Love Palin, I can't even understand you. I've read your posts before and if you want to argue one little point and not see the big picture, no one can help you.
Do you hate America so much you want it ripped apart? TARP or No TARP, No one in our history has done as much damage as Obama. People are scared and he has capitalized on it and created more fear. That sickens me and if you want to point a finger at Conservatives who are hanging on by a thread then go ahead...you won't have a friend in my house. But then again, you don't care, you just want a friend in the White House. Who brought up TARP here? You did to rub peoples noses in a silly argument. Does that make you feel proud of yourself? Do you see how that works?
Yeah, some Republicans voted for it - some felt they had to - it was rammed down their throats. What Bush did wasn't necessarily right, but what Obama has done dwarfs any of it. How can you say Bush did something wrong and then justify what Obama did by it? It was wrong. As of right now any Republicans voting for something Obama wants doesn't matter anyway - they have no votes that count. And if you are pointing out Palin and her support of TARP to snipe and continue to be unhelpful in the national dialogue, how about the fact that she didn't get a vote on TARP.
The Democrat party is now a party of "social justice" a fancy way to say, if you worked for it - the government can take it away to give it to those who don't work for it. Property rights, land and compensation, were one of the founding principles of our country. Without it, we are screwed. Now Obama has a "Compensation Czar". Really? Why? To monitor what the privates sector does so he can level the playing field with Unions? How does this make sense? And how does it make sense that a Union owns a share of a company now where investors got nothing. They didn't start the company or invest and risk. They took a job and got pay with benefits. They don't deserve anything. Obama is ruining this country and my 89 year old grandma can see it - can you?
Upside down = right-wing redneck nut job
Got a gripe?? Use a piece of cardboard to express your views. Leave the flag alone!!!
"No one in our history has done as much damage as Obama. People are scared and he has capitalized on it and created more fear."
You're absolutely right!! That certainly didn't happen after 9/11/2001 with W.! Why, the Patriot Act was really for our own good; we only lost a few, not really important, rights. And that covert CIA group that only W. and Cheney knew about, you know, the one that was just discovered by CIA Director Panetta and disbanded (the nerve!), the one that has misled and lied to Congress since 2001 (I'm sure they deserved it!) at the direction of the Commander-in-Chief . . . well, they and W. were just protecting us from ourselves.
And as for starting a war in a country where there were no WMDs . . . well, I certainly understand! W. was doing it for Daddy, to finish up what he started. So what if we've lost over 4300 young men and women in a war of choice. They were sacrificed for a good cause! We almost had that oil! So what if our national budget went from over $230 billion surplus to a $400 billion deficit under W's watch. Iraq is a righteous war against evil - OOPS, you mean Bin Laden wasn't in Iraq and maybe we should have been looking in Afganistan? Well, anyone could make that little mistake if they were promoting the use of intel that had been doctored by that covert CIA group under W.'s command. And speaking of Afganistan, the world needs all the cocaine they can grow and export! Good going W!
As for our economy . . . you're so right on! It was just those Liberal's imagination that the economy took a dive under W's guidance. Roll taxes back to Reagan levels for big business and the wealthy? No way should they have to pay their fair share in taxes. Isn't that the middle class's job? You know, those making well under 200K per year. What?? No special Texas oil company breaks? You mean they might actually have to put some of those billions of dollars in profit towards something that will benefit a majority instead of just stockholders? Well that's just wrong! Profits at any cost! Greed is good! It's the Capitalist way! As for any other program that costs money, I say, just say NO! You don't really have to spend money to make money. NO! to all of those "socialist" programs! That includes Medicare and Unemployment Insurance benefits too, right? I mean really! It took W. 8 years to help bring the economy to where it was when he left office. Obama's been in office 6 months - what's he waiting for? That's certainly enough time to turn 8 years of W.'s management around!
"Do you hate America so much you want it ripped apart?"
Absolutely not! I'm just going to keep saying NO! to any idea the Obama Administration promotes, and then criticize their efforts. That'll fix us! I'm also going to follow all those great Republican leaders who hold themselves up as examples of moral, ethical politicians. You know the ones: they preach about the sanctity of marriage - to their mistress. They say "Thanks, but no thanks" to federal earmarks and money, while using their constituents money to build their houses and fly family on get-aways.
"This is a culture war"
Right again! That darn Democratic party! They actually want to be inclusive, can you believe it? People of all color, religion, ethnic background and economic status are welcome. Well, that will never fly! After all, this is America!
Our county is heading in the right direction under the Obama administration. Flying the flag upside down is unpatriotic and should be outlaw. Similarly, we shouldn't tolerate the burning of our flag. Those of you who don't like where this country is heading can pack your things and leave. It's my country and I love everything about it.
Correction: Pack your bags and go back to where your ancestors came from!
Be gone...D E V I L S!
Some immigrants don't like lots of the trash that posts such HATE!
BE GONE DEVILS! PRONTO!!!
"In order to have a logical discussion with you, it requires a modicum of "logic"...which you obviously lack.
Seems like you, consistent with the majority of republicans, base your argument on "emotions" and "feelings" rather than "facts".
Your comments could be applied to anything. All you have to do is substitute the word "republicans" for democrats.
Where was there anything about emotion or feelings in what I posted? I posted facts. Palin supported TARP. McCain supported TARP. The Bush administration created it. TARP, in its original form, took tax money and gave it to the wealthiest financial services companies with no strings attached. Bush said we needed to abandon capitalism to save capitalism. Sarah Palin agreed. How is that for republican credibility? TARP is socialism for the wealthy. If republicans want us to trust the free market and not interfere, why can they do the same themselves?
"... want to argue one little point ..."
You've got to be kidding. One little point! A republican abandoning capitalism wholesale, and to the tune of $750 Billion. That is the defining point of Republican policy for this decade.
" ... some Republicans voted for it - some felt they had to - it was rammed down their throats... "
Rammed down their throats by a Republican. It came from the Bush administration.
"How can you say Bush did something wrong and then justify what Obama did by it?"
Because if we're going to embrace socialism and wealth redistribution in a massive way, then it makes sense to me to distribute it more equitably. If real wages were declining throughout the decade for all but the upper class, why direct the bulk of our social spending at them. This wasn't some kind of tax cut, this was welfare.
And it is much more than just TARP. There was Phil Gramm's systematic dismantling of regulation of the financial services industry that really got us in this financial mess. Many of these regulations had been in place since before the Great Depression, and some were written in response to it. Probably the worst injury was the defining of credit default swaps as "insurance" and not governed by the state laws banning bucket shops. It was credit default swaps that brought down AIG, Bear Stearn, and the rest.
"...if you worked for it - the government can take it away to give it to those who don't work for it. Property rights, land and compensation..."
But it was the Bush administration that gave amicus curiae briefings to the supreme court in opposition to property owners in the landmark supreme court case. Republicans are now happy to undermine property rights when it suits them, or their campaign donors.
"Now Obama has a "Compensation Czar". "
George Will proposed something very similar on "This Week with George Stephanopoulos". He argued for limiting the pay of an employee of any company receiving government bailout to that made by a government GS-15.
"how about the fact that she didn't get a vote on TARP."
But she was asked specifically if she supported it and she said yes. Then she gave a completely incoherent justification for it.
"Obama is ruining this country and my 89 year old grandma can see it - can you?"
Republicans are doing at least as badly. They have abandoned their principals completely. By removing prudent and sensible regulation that had been working for many decades, while at the same time biasing the market in favor of unsustainable leverage, the played a major role in collapsing the economy.
This economic crisis was not caused by excessive taxation, burdensome government regulation, or powerful labor unions. Those were the problems of the nineteen seventies. This crisis was caused by reckless deregulation of the financial services industry, combined with irresponsible federal reserve policy. The response from the Bush administration was dreadful.
I don't like a lot of what Obama is doing. Timothy Geithner should be fired, and not just because he is a tax cheat. He seems more interested in kissing up to Wall Street big shots than doing his job.
In my opinion, the only way Republicans can win again is to repudiate the behavior of people like Phil Gramm and George Bush. McCain and Palin chose not to, and they lost. I really hope Republicans get their act together.
Web Link I would add that Mark Sanford has lots of stuff that keeps him very very busy....check this out!!!!! Who would have ever suspected?
Hmmmmm.....so are you Jon or Cholo? Or is Cholo actually Jon?
This is what you get when you elect a liberal half black man who hates America. He is doing all he can to kill America.
Any reply to Love Palin's comments above?
palin been had her 15 minutes...she is over...
You're a troll. Eww...
I can only imagine what your personal life is like if you bait everyone with such ugliness.
I pity anyone that live with you, yourself or your "identities" as Yo, Love Palin, and all the other names you use to post your nasty attitude.
Don't bother a reply - I won't bother to look after I hit submit.
You're a troll and in need of help.
Upside Down, Mark, Grandma is Right,
You must be so proud to have poster "Adolph" in your corner!! He just came right out and said what each one of you intimated with comments like:
"The country my parents grew up in is dead to me and my children."
"...bring America DOWN to the level of a developing country...like Zimbabwe..."
"This is a culture war..."
A true spokesperson for your views!
And you YO YO are so polite.
To "Yo Yo"
I posted answers to the "Grandma" person's questions. You posted nothing but name calling. Could this be a classic case of projection?
I'm still waiting for a reply from "Grandma is right"
I'm a proud black woman and this is what you get when you elect a half white man who hates America.
"Quanisha", I'm sure "Upside Down", "Mark" and "Grandma is Right" will be so happy with your input! Why, they're probably jumping up and down with glee at your comment. It's just gotta be the truth, and not really racism, if it comes from someone purporting to be black, correct??
I know la quani and he is Irish! Yup but he like to date Asian women. He hangs out at Tully's with the Street Preachers and encourages them to name call. la quani wasn't in the mix before but now that he finally has a girl name, he feels very normal and balanced and a part of the posting gang. Hi quani!
To the poster named adolf who made the ridiculous comment about Obama a couple of days ago.You must be either related to or an admirer of another very famous Adolf.I am a little bit shocked to find so many right wing zealots in the model community of Pleasanton along with Palin fans.I do not have a problem with someone liking Palin but I do have a problem putting a lightly educated person with little intellectual curiosity in the White House. It baffles me to see how any thinking person could see her running our country.Admire her, like her,whatever...please just leave it at that.
Rae, as usual I just love your posts!
Urantia, they all think Palin is "hot", at least that's what the majority of comments offered as proof of her abilities. The rest of us are just "jealous" of her.
I think "Quanisha" is really a white, right wing imposter!
"Love, Palin" - I still don't see any responses to your post. I guess "Grandma" has got nothing!
In regards to your comment about "Grandma is Right", perhaps they said all they needed to in one post and they don't take the bait of some to continue an online argument.
I think that Poster was very clear on their points. Perhaps they said what they needed to and moved on - unlike those that post and wait for replies to continue an unneccessary argument. I certainly respect that more than I respect you for trying to egg on further negative engagement between two other posters.
Well, "Or perhaps", it's a good thing I am not concerned with earning your respect.
Personally, I don't have respect for those who don't really want to dialog and who cannot support their statements. Some people "post and run" - they don't have any interest in seeing another point of view. Take the bait? They threw out some bait and then didn't have the nerve to respond to those who took their bait!
By the way, if you see this as an "unnecessary argument" then that's pretty much what most of these board are....so why are you here?
