Your asking us to pay more and do more of the work. I can understand residents doing the recycling rather than pleasanton garbage, however increasing our prices in a addition makes no sense!
PGS prides themselves on recycling half our garbage. They do so to cash in not to save mother earth. So an old story for new to Pleasanton folks. (Abbreviated story). The gov. said reduce trash or be forced to not get a large sum of money. PG decided to run trash over a conveyor and pull recyclables to meet the demanded reduction. Why not have us recycle or encourage it in any way? They receive the money for the recyclables for virtually free for what they pay the conveyor workers. Win/win for them. Now they want us to separate it for them and raise cost? Recycling cans should be included with a price reduction. They have turned this old story into a Win/Win/Win again.
I beg to differ. I think it unconscionable that the city decided to go along with this with no input from the citizens. It is a huge increase in cost for less service. It is also ridiculous that a family with 2 people are forced to have 3 LARGE bins in their small yard. Why wasn't it decided that you had a choice in the size of all bins? Why can't you have 3 small bins doing the same thing? No, the city decided to raise the cost substantially and give you no choice on the size of the recycle bin. It would take us a month to fill a garbage bin that size and I don't want 3 bins in my yard. After calling the company I was told that it's too bad....you get 3 bins whether you want them or not. I told them the recycle bin would stay in the street until they chose to pick it up because it wasn't going in my tiny yard! This is just another form of taxation in Pleasanton with a monopoly company. Why don't we have a CHOICE in garbage companies. Why isn't it built into our tax base like other communities? Why didn't they put the program decision on the ballot with Measure G - at least we could have had two items to vote on? Why didn't they take new bids for our garbage service to see if the cost could be reduced. Another dictator decision by Hosterman and her "YES Madam" team.
