Topic postings restricted by editor?

Original post made by Wow, Another Pleasanton neighborhood, on Dec 3, 2008

Can someone explain why the topic "Woman hijacks highway patrol car" was closed to the general public by the editor? Many other topics with ridiculous message postings are left open for months and months. Was it because someone questioned a quote in the article?

Julie is a registered user.

I wonder if they are going to slowly phase in a registration requirement.

Perhaps that's true, Julie. But it seems too coincidental that the editor chose a post which was slightly critical of the facts in a story as the first topic to lock in this manner. That doesn't seem quite right to me.

It's their party and they'll close when they want to!!!

Reminds me of a sign I saw for sale in a nautical antique store once:

Kinda puts things in perspective doesn't it.

Reminds me of my favorite sign ever seen in a chinese restaurant. "In god we trust, all others pay cash"! When any anonymous user wants to put up a Pleasanton forum website they can, and can also set their own rules!

If that was the case, then the editor(s) would have shut down each and every topic area in which Cholo had ever entered a comment or was every likely to enter a comment. No, it's pretty darned obvious that they shut that particular one down because someone had the audacity to suggest that there was the possibility of a slip-up in reporting, and that might have reflected poorly on the editor(s) themselves.

Mark Twain said I believe everything I read in the papers except on those rare occasion I happened to be there.
