Pleasanton City Manager & Employees Moonlighting with Different Jobs

Original post made by Seriously dysfunctional, Another Pleasanton neighborhood, on Apr 17, 2013

Web Link

shows that our local employees and commissioners have been moonlighting teaching classes participating in mock city council meetings and such rather than actually doing their jobs here in Pleasanton. Why is the City Manager and his staff off participating in moonlighting activities (surprisingly teaching classes on ethics and pension reform) rather than doing their jobs here in Pleasanton?

This web link above shows:

Nelson Fialho, City Manager
Dave Spiller, Chief of Police
Jennifer Pearce, Planning Commissioner
David Stark, Government Affairs, Bay East Realtors
Jonathan Lowell, City Attorney
Jim Miguel, Fire Chief

How long has this been going on?

This is an outrage! It reminds me of when I see my son's teachers at the movie theater or eating at a Main Street restaurant. What are they doing?!? Why aren't they at the school?

The problem is that people need to stay compartmentalized into whatever life I imagine for them, at all times, and too many people either don't realize this or outright ignore it. This situation is a perfect example of this. Now that people know that Jennifer Hosterman will be distracted from her mayoral vigilance from 7-8:50 on a Monday night in September, what's to stop all hell from breaking loose? I'll bet Dublin is already making plans for the invasion.

We need to throw the bums out! Starve the beast! Down with unions! Who is John Galt!

J. Hosterman is a registered user.

This is, unfortunately, the kind of wild rumor that occurs in the heated days/weeks before an election! I suppose more will follow. In the meantime, I will straighten the record out for anyone who has an interest. No staff time was used in preparation for my class, and the class was canceled. I hope this helps!
