Way to go Pleasanton Parks and Recreation! Thanks for bringing the EBRPD in for an update and showing your support for saving the slides. Thanks to the EBRPD as well for listening to their constituents and seeking a long term solution.

"The concessions have brought in $1.5 million over the years without a cost to the Park District or the city" For thirty years this has been a wonderful amenity for Pleasanton families at no cost to the taxpayer, in fact it made $1.5m for taxpayers.
Park director O'Connor said they made a $6.3m rough estimate of cost of renovation but admitted they are "no experts on water slides." The expert, builder/operator of thirty years, said the cost is closer to $300,000. The difference is if a public agency managed the work it might cost $6.3 million but a private operator will get it done for far less. That is why the public/private partnership is successful and should be continued.

Tonight the Youth Commission will discus the need to save the slides.

Happy to read that they are hoping to keep it open. It's a great place for our children in this community.

I am so happy that there is work being done to keep the water slides opened. I hope it all works so that we can continue to enjoy the slides. My granddaughter is coming for a visit this week and she mentioned that she wanted to go to the waterslides. I had to tell her that they were closed for this summer and maybe forever! She was very disappointed to hear this and really hopes they the slides are rescued and that we will be able to enjoy them again for years to come. My four daughters enjoyed the slides as they were growing up and now their children (my grandchildren) were enjoying them and hope that they get to continue to do so. Pleaseeeee restore them for our kids. Thank you for all of your effort.
