Foothill beats Amador in Varsity footbal season closer

Original post made by T.H., Pleasanton Meadows, on Nov 13, 2009

Amador came out and scored 14 quick. Then Foothill put up 31 unanswered points until a Amador TD with a minute left in the game. This happened even with Foothill missing an easy field goal (Kicker Langford later made up for it with a 45 yarder that was long enough to make a 55 yrd. attempt) and a Foothill fumble recovered by Amador inches from scoring 6 more on the Dons. 21 - 31 Foothill wins. Amador goes 8-2 with a likely 4 seed in NCS while Foothill goes 6-4 with a possible 10 seed. This victory finally gives Foothill something to be proud about this season with four loses even with a future Pac-10 QB.

Would you rather be 6-4 or 8-2? Would you rather be 4nd seed or 10th.
Going into this Foothill was 5-4(with a future Pac-10 QB) and Amador was 8-1. To say Foothill is better than Amador is like saying the Raiders are better this year than the Eagles. Amador had less to gain and wanted to go into NCS, where everyone thinks they have a chance, healthy (Stincil still pulls hamstring). Sweeney has Sira's number for sure, that is obvious. Amador won the season, Foothill won the game, but we can see what happpens in NCS.

It's so funny how the Amador people start whining...oh, our record is all know for the players, that doesn't matter. Neither team is going to win the NCS title this year, so in 20 years looking back, the kids, then adults will look back on what they did against their rival school. And guess what, Foothill won, Amador lost...anyone who plays the record card either is not an athlete who played at one of the two schools or is not a current player. Ask any former or current player and they will tell you, if you don't win league, you better beat your rival or your season is missing something. I went to Amador and my kids are now at Foothill. I can tell you as a former Amador player, we still think about beating Foothill in high school. Only the incredibly ignorant people fsil to understand that.

Great call AV Whiners. Clearly you have your priorties properly in order. Kids that go off to college with the proper perspective don't give a damn about this game usually after a couple of weeks. They are usually friends that hang out together and its the adults with no life that perpetuate things. It might be fun to talk about 10 years later if you happen to run into a buddy over a beer, but it is not nearly the pinnacle of life you make it out to be. If you are truly still thinking about the fact of something you did or didn't do in high school at this point in your life you are the one who is ignorant. Worse than that you are transfering it to your kids whether you know it or not....

I am not going to whine as Foothill deserved to win last night. The fact they lost to 3 teams that Amador beat this year is why Amador WILL be seeded higher than Foothill tomorrow. Take your own bitter pill and swallow it and stop acting like the ONLY thing that matters is one game.

Good luck in the playoffs! With any luck we'll meet up again this year. Then if Foothill wins you can declare this years Falcon's "the greatest ever" because you'll have beaten AV twice in one year. What an Al Bundy.

Ha, as a former player that's BS. We beat foothill when I played and I do remember that. Foothill did better in NCS, had a better record and I also remember them being the better team, as they proved it during the season and in NCS. It was our consilation prize to at least be able to say we won that one game, and we too tried to make it out like we were better. Battle cry of the loser is "We won that one game!"

Now if a team beat DLS, then that would be something to hang your hat on. Foothill thinks Amador is horrible, so they beat a horrible team, what's so great about that? If Amador would have beat Foothill do you think that would be the highlight of a 9-1 season with a 2nd seed in NCS? Nope, maybe beating MV, but not beating the theoretical 5-5 Foothill Falcons.

Time for Sira to go. He's worn out and not as aggressive as he once was. Had the athletes but could not rally them to win the tough ones. Stancil got hurt but no excuses, Foothill wanted it more. AV will continue to lose to Foothill because he knows he is "safe" as a Coach. He gives little support to PJFL as he lives in Livermore. The team did well despite of him. Congrats to his Assistants. Sira, go away. Sweeney, you do a great job and no one, not even a AV Supporter can deny you that. AV kids, play your guts out--who knows maybe you can get a rematch.

Wow AV Supporter,

If that is really your perspective on Rick you know NOTHING about Amador football. So Sira's wins this year against M.V., Cal, SRV mean nothing to you? Funny when the Don's win, its all about the kids, when they lose its all about the Coach. Hmmmmmm I'll bet you a Benjamin there's not a kid on the AV squad that would say Sira had anything to do with this loss (although Rick himself would say differently), or has anything but positives regardless. My only gripe about Rick is that he keeps an offensive coordinator year after year who seems to buckle under pressure vs Foothill. No one else, just Foothill. I personally think Sweeney is in Roberts head. I've never seen more time outs called during critical moments over the years by AV, only to have the offense run a simple dive play after the time out. It NEVER works. Amador went 8-2 this year endured a tough EBAL schedule, and you think Sira is worn out? I'll give you that the rivalry game seems to mean more to Foothill than it does to Amador. Having said that, I'd hate to see that as the most important factor when your team earns a #3 seed in NCS.

I personally hope Stancil is OK to play in the playoffs (in 2 weeks more importantly than one). He is a perfect option threat with game breaking speed, and the ability to throw the ball enough to keep the D off balance. Without him I don't think the Don's last long in the playoffs. PS AV Supporter, not sure if you've seen the brackets, but I believe a rematch will only happen if both the Don's and Falcon's make it to the NCS Championship.
