Black Cat..Panther?.. Roaming Hills Palomares

Original post made by I Love Pleasanton, Pleasanton Meadows, on Aug 24, 2009

I did see the much talked-about black cat--suspected possible Panther-- roaming the hills in the Church/Rodeo area along 580 Sunday evening at about 7:15 as I was driving back from SFO. It looked to be slowly stalking prey.. in the grassy hills to the right as I traveled 580 eastbound. The tale was long and hanging down/straight.. slightly curled up in a 'U' shape toward the middle. It was about 50-100yards away... and black as night in contrast to the golden grassy hills as sunset was approaching. I saw a van pulled over.. likely saw it too and was going to back-up to snap a photograph. I exited and drove along Dublin Canyon Rd having the same intent to capture a photo.. but it was gone already.

So much for this animal possibly being a wild boar. Or a bobcat. Sounds like we have a real black panther in the foothills. If anyone has a picture of it, please post it with the paper!
