New direction of Town Square Forum

Original post made by Huh?, Foothill Place, on Aug 10, 2009

Just did a quick scan of the Town Square Forum headlines and only 2 of the top 25 were related to Pleasanton. I don't remember it being this way in prior visits. I do appreciate that this is the place to discuss what is on the minds of our town, I am just surprised at the dramatic shift.

Yes, total change of vibes and conciousness in Pleasanton in general, starting with pre election times.

P-Town sways to the right, much more so than surrounding regions.

I hope what we're seeing is not an example of the average right leaning mentality!

This forum hasn't been a productive site in some time. I use to come on here all the time to read people's thoughts about local issues and it's turned into a national debate forum. As if listening to CNN, FOX, MSNBC, and all the other news stations isn't enough, we have people on here constantly "shouting" at each other.

We absolutely agree.

(By the way, I can't be the only one wondering this...but why the lower case "o" in your screen name? I keep wondering if I am missing something in your name meaning? It's like a license plate you can't quite decipher while stuck in traffic.)

Thanks! :)

Who's doing this? This forum isn't worth reading anymore.

When national and international events dramatically impact local issues, wouldn't you expect the local part of the forum to reflect that? Do you think the schools issue is just local? How about unemployment? If you are looking for information about the next dog or cat grooming class, or an in depth critique of the latest free movie shown at Delucci Park, try going to a different site! You will know that the recession is over when the local forum resumes discussing those types of pressing issues. Until then, join the debate and help make a difference...whichever way your thinking takes you. By the way, I love cats and dogs, and I've seen the movies in Delucci Park.

Agreed. There are other, dare I even say better, forums for the national issues, i.e. Obama and even state issues. It would be nice if this was a forum for people to discuss Pleasanton issues.

Sorry, but further commenting on this topic has been closed.
