County fair wraps up Sunday

Original post made on Jul 17, 2009

The Alameda County Fair's 2009 slogan is "Come out and Play," and visitors have lived up to that credo. This summer, more than in past years, the fair, which began July 1 and wraps up its run this Sunday, has seen a dramatic increase in attendance. In the first five days alone, the fair saw more than 140,000 come through the turnstyles.

They also could do... $2.00 every day before noon and still be ahead! People would jam the gates to get in early and stay for lunch.. maybe dinner.. horseracing.. and early concerts. They'd make lots more than gate revenue in betting, food sales, and more people strolling the commercial buildings.

But, the best deal.. and possibly the poorest promoted... was the $30 online only Run Of The Fair Pass. Get it early next year..

Does anyone know when the plant auction is being held? They sell the plants from the garden displays every year and I can't seem to find information about it this year.
