Just F.Y.I. if your car's AC isn't working...

Original post made by Just a heads up, Birdland, on May 21, 2009

My car’s AC isn’t working and the heat is coming so it was time to bring it to a shop. Ray’s in Dublin wanted $150 to just check it out and Autotron in Pleasanton wanted $140. Advantage Auto off Golden Gate in Dublin (next to the new BART parking structure) did it for $50. The total with the addition of freon ended up being $65. Thanks Advantage and I just want to recommend them for those needing AC servicing unless you want to pay more than double.

Glad I could help. I did some work to save that money so I just wanted to have it pay off for someone else. They did a good job. I little trick for you...Go to a speacialist mechanic that has a good rep and that you trust, but that doesn't do the repair you need. Then tell them "I wish you did this but if you had to(fill in the blank) where would you get it done? Maybe ask a transmition guy where to get body work done. It works.

I did end up taking my truck in to Advantage Automotive in Dublin to have my air conditioner serviced. Since it was a truck, I needed a bit more refrigerant than a car, so it cost $50 for the service and $30 for the refrigerent...$80 total! To let everyone know how great this place really husband also brought his car in because it had a rattle. The technician couldn't find the problem, so he's sending him on to the Honda dealer. Advantage Automotive didn't charge us for the diagnostics!!! We are definitely new Advantage Automotive customers!
