Remembering Juanita

Original post made by Emily Atwood, another community, on Mar 9, 2007

Pleasanton lost a dedicated education advocate March 5 with the death of School Board President Juanita Haugen. Her lifelong commitment to civil service and excellence in education for every child impacted schools at the local and even national level. She remained passionate and active even when undergoing extensive treatments during her lengthy battle with cancer.

Juanita's presence will be missed in the community, but her accomplishments and enthusiasm lives on. If you want to share a story or memory of how Juanita impacted your life, please do so below.

I've given thought to the many women I have known. Juanita has been truly one of the loveliest, always energetically focused on supporting students and teachers. I count it a privilege to be someone she has influenced with her warmth, grace, and pursuit of the best.
