Employee pension contributions have not been discussed since 2007 ??? Are they kidding? how does THAT demonstrate fiscal responsibility?
When have you ever seen another governmental created and the administrative costs NOT go up.?
Do you really want bureaucratic independence?
This is a simple no thank you
Zone 7 independence from the county will not create "another bureaucracy" it will remove one. The Zone currently operates as a semi-independent organization. However some everyday functions such as purchasing and HR are internal to Zone 7 and external to Alameda county. Imagine going to Target and having to check out twice. Zone 7 is an organization dedicated to efficiency and reliability.
Also the citizens of South San Ramon should be hopping mad that they experience "taxation" with out representation.
Aaron, the residents of South San Ramon have representation through the Dublin San Ramon Services District. DSRSD negotiated the crazy water deal for that development as a customer of Zone 7. It's too bad residents there have to pay a premium for their water, but Zone 7's mission is to serve the residents of eastern Alameda County - NOT to subsidize Contra Costa County sprawl.
Zone 7's 'indepedence' agenda is to provide water to Contra Costa County sprawl developments like they did for Dougherty Valley (and they were sued for doing that because their bylaws say they will serve Alameda County residents).
Zone 7 wants the entire Tassajara Valley developed. They want to provide water for that area while leaving Alameda County residents 'high and dry.'
Not once has Zone 7 (board or staff) expressed any interest in wanting to develop the Tassajara Valley or providing any water there.
I think this whole debate is destracting !Does it really matter what umbrella they all work under ? There are serious projects underway and in works. The County
of Alameda should fund zone 7as should Contra Costa
for services rendered.Lets just Make sure the Developers
Pay there share.
