Palin Rebounds with New Correspondant's Job: Expected to Move Her Family to Lebanon

Original post made by Martin Douglas, Another Pleasanton neighborhood, on Feb 13, 2013

The Washington Post reports that Sarah Palin, recently jilted by Roger Ailes' Fox News, has signed a contract to be a commentator for Al Jazeera News.

After leaving Fox News, Palin said she was hoping to reach a broader audience with her message. When contacted by phone, Palin said Al Jazeera - with its extensive international network - offered her the best opportunity to broadcast to millions of people.

“As you all know, I’m not a big fan of newspapers, books, journalists, and the liberal media in general,” Palin said. “But I met with the folks at Al-JaJizzraa (sic) and they told me they reach millions of devoutly religious people who don’t watch CBS or CNN. That tells me they don’t have a liberal bias.”

I thought it was mildly amusing, though kind of an easy one. Any mention of Palin can bring a smile.

The WaPo has since retracted the story. Even Al Jazeera has standards for cripe sakes!

This false story originated at the Daily Currant, a satirical website. The Washington Post ran with it without checking and had to apologize for the mistake.

On the other hand, it is true that Al Gore recently sold his television network to Al Jazeera stating that Al-Jazeera shares Current TV's mission "to give voice to those who are not typically heard; to speak truth to power; to provide independent and diverse points of view; and to tell the stories that no one else is telling."

Some also criticize Mr. Gore for taking money in this deal that came from the petroleum industry.

Thanks, Doug. Like I say, Al Jazeera has SOME standards and so it would be unrealistic to think that Sarah Palin could pass muster as journalist, commentator, or anything other than comedy act at the network.

The merger of Al Jazeera with Gore's old network represents some interesting possibilities, especially for views formed outside of the American propaganda machine to reach the American public. If Al Jazeera begins reporting on global warming as honestly as it has reported on affairs in the Middle East, we may be on to something pedagogically significant for American audiences.

Not sure why Gore shouldn't take money from the petrol industry. Liked your linked source, by the way. Shows you're really reading important investigative journalism. Keep up the good work.
