Splatter Festival Great Place to Share Safe Firearms Storage Message

Original post made by Laurie Herbert, Pleasanton Meadows, on Sep 11, 2023

The Dublin Splatter Festival on September 9 was an amazing event, full of happy families, beautiful costumes and talented dancers, great music, yummy food, all wrapped up with a fantastic drone light show.
I was proud to be a part of a team of 16 women from the Livermore Valley Chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America who staffed a fun booth at the festival. Children enjoyed our fun spinning wheel and prizes while we talked to parents about the importance of locking up all firearms in the home. Two years ago, firearms became the number one cause of death of American children. This is unacceptable, preventable and we will work tirelessly until our children are safe! Watch for us at Farmers Market tables in Livermore, Pleasanton and Dublin.

There's nothing amazing about distorting the definition of a "child" and/or ignoring their criminal activity/backgrounds to promote feel good, ineffective policies as solutions.

Gun control (not "safety") advocates are indeed working tirelessly - to harass law abiding people doing nothing wrong and to shut down the legal process so that they no longer can own/use firearms.

Respectfully, BE SMARTforkids.org's sole purpose is to promote responsible gun ownership in order to reduce child gun deaths. Every year 350 children under the age of 18 gain access to a firearm and unintentionally shoot themselves or someone else. More than 700 children die by gun suicide every year. And roughly 3/4 of school shooters got the gun from their home or from the home of a relative or friend. Secure storage of firearms can prevent these deaths. This has nothing to do with harassing gun owners and everything to do with saving lives.

"Moms Demand Action" (affiliation of the original poster) is not about "secure storage".

This organization lobbies elected officials to restrict and/or prohibit law abiding citizens from legally owning/purchasing/using firearms (which violates the 2nd Amendment) to "reduce gun violence". Notice the lack of reference to/accountability of "criminals"(the ones on the streets of our cities who ignore gun laws). And then they conveniently blame the firearms industry for acts of violence.

All of this sounds just like harassment (as well as being soft on crime). Make the gun ownership process legally/financially prohibitive for the law abiding, shift the accountability/blame away from criminals by calling their actions an "epidemic", and then claim bans/restrictions for those not involved with violence are necessary for "prevention" and/or "safety" reasons.
