Discussion Tuesday of 30% increase in water rates, more in subsequent years

The Pleasanton City Council will hold a special meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Operations Services Center, to discuss an approximate 30% rate increase for water customers beginning Nov. 1, followed by 20% and 12% increases.

So Pleasanton water rates are proposed to more than double over the next few years. I understand the need to do an increase, but doubling in a three year span is ridiculous. We are seniors. How are we supposed to find the extra funds to pay for this increase? We buy bottled water now, due to the poor quality of Pleasanton water. Plus the water quality and clarity is unsatisfactory, and has been for many years.
We’ve lived in Pleasanton for over 40 years, we are saddened and dismayed with this proposal.
