I have gone the full Ohlone Trail on horseback. I am not sure that it was any easier! But well worth it. Good on you!

I've never done the trip. Friend of mine years ago did it. I recall him telling me he started to feel angry about four hours into it. No switchbacks. Just 'power-burn'....up hill, after hill, after hill. With a pack on the back. And less scenic than an hour-long Sunol Regional hike.
But you do get that "Did it!" sensation. And there's nothing wrong with that.

Fun read! I've yet to do the entire trail at once but have enjoyed hiking and backpacking all of the OWT in segments. It's beautiful in the spring when the hills are green. My favorite OWT memory was the 20 mile thru-hike from Del Val - Sunol. We left a car at both ends but my trail buddy accidentally left our Sunol car key in our car at the Del Val trail head and with no cell service, we had to make a collect call-a-friend from the parks phone booth. Advice: start early bring, bring water, water filter, sunscreen, hat, snacks, first aid kit and don't forget your car keys! ????
