What a Week: Crowded consent calendar

Original post made on May 1, 2022

Drought. COVID-19. Homelessness. Downtown parklets. Contractor fees. Those are just a few of the weighty topics that passed with very little discussion at last week's Pleasanton City Council meeting on a packed consent agenda.

Thank you for covering our local politics. We have too few newspaper reporters serving as our watchdogs.

Hi, Thank you Jeremy for keeping me up on the City Council. I work swing shift and sometimes l get behind on things. I read the council approved paying Lifetime Activities about $95,000 to run Bocce ball through the end of next year. The council then voted down additional $156,000 for a residential recycled water spigot. Does not pass the smell test to me. Can you help me to learn more details about the residential recycled water project? It seems to me that access to recycled water is at least as important as hiring someone to administer Bocce Ball. I like Bocce Ball. The courts in the in park near the Senior Center are, from my observation under used. When I walk in the park with my elderly mother, who lives at the Parkview Assisted Living Apartments, I only see folks playing once a week. How about we just reserve the courts online, or at the Senior Center and save the $156,000? Maybe then we can again use recycled water to irrigate our dried up yards?

Don't miss out on the discussion!
