I completely agree with Supervisor Miley that we need to be prepared once the eviction moratorium ends. Alameda County Superior Court is preparing to handle the deluge and mediation organizations, such as the Center for Community Dispute Settlement, are already handling these landlord/tenant issues before they get to court. Mediation is often a more affordable and expedient way to resolve these issues and frees up the courts to handle more difficult cases.

Funny how the state won’t allow you to defer taxes or prevent bank foreclosure on mortgage payments but has no problem stopping rental property owners from collecting rent or evicting tenants that won’t pay in a super demand heavy rental market.

Rules for thee, not for me.
