I received email replies from Council member Arkin and mayor Brown in response to my email challenging their vote for the Tangerine map for districting.

The two-emails replies from Arkin and Brown attempting to explain their support for the Tangerine map reminded me of Vladimir Putin explaining to the Russian people why he is invading Ukraine.

Lying is a symptom of Napoleon complex. it becomes possible to distant perceptions of reality. This allows Arkin and Brown to create results within a world of fantasy that still feels real to them.

Michael, if you're comfortable cutting and pasting the text of the email responses here, I think it would be helpful in understanding the decision-making process.

This editorial sums up the decision-making process with the Byerly comment followed with the likely scenario for council member Testa as to why the Lime map was not selected.

The Lime map clearly meets all the criteria for districting, whereas the Tangerine map clearly does not. Regardless of how Brown, Testa and Arkin spin it.

A district is likely to be represented by a candidate considered inferior to the voters of that district. There may well be an inferior candidate running for office in one of the districts without an opponent.
