Maskless in Grocery Stores....why?

Original post made by ClaudetteMcDermott, Del Prado, on Dec 15, 2021

Why are people allowed to enter grocery stores where it is plainly posted, as well as a mandate by the State to be masked indoors, NOT wearing masks like this guy who works at Safeway but shopped in my store Raley's.

I asked him why he wasn't shopping where he works without his mask, no answer was given, but I bet he isn't allowed to be unmasked in Safeway.

I asked him why he wasn't wearing a mask and you can guess what he said. He said Masks don't help, and that Covid doesn't hurt anyone... what?? He said that his mother an 86 year old woman got the virus and was fine. Did he realize that he most likely gave it to her? What about those that have died from it? Does he not take that into consideration? The answer to that is he just doesn't care, because it's his right to do as he likes, no matter the rules or regulations or the science which he does not believe.

Today there were 4 white males 35-60 years of age all not wearing masks. Two of the 4 put on their masks when I asked while the other two did not. I thanked those that did.

I just don't understand the logic behind behaving badly by spreading illness un-necessarily, that can cause great complications to someone else, their health and even death. Why do these people just not care...

Thank you for highlighting this incident. I have to say it is very rare that I see people in store without masks. There are a lot more conscientious people out there than ignorant ones.

Also thank you for your bravery to ask them to put their masks on! One never knows how these people would react in these types of situation.

Florida has NO mask mandates and a lower covid case rate than California.

Why aren’t you asking for the data that suggests we should be?

I'll happily wear a mask, even when they say not too.

But agree with PP... you should ask for the data. Good luck with that though.

Who gave you the authority to ask? Did you ask if he took a flu shot, had a colonoscopy, or is on heart medication? I just can’t rap my arms around the ignorant and uninformed people who are vaccinated and wear a mask that worry so much about this issue. Obviously you are not convinced of your protection as guaranteed by Fauci.

Buklau, I don't want to wear a mask, but I do in public indoor areas to protect others that are more vulnerable to Covid, and can end up in a hospital, or worse, die from it.
The Governor of Florida is against mask and vaccine mandates for his own political reasons, it's what his followers like.
But there are still many in Florida that wear masks to protect themselves or others.
And as far as deaths from Covid 19.....
California, population of 39.7 million has recorded 75,853 deaths
Florida, population of 21.6 million, has recorded 62,191 deaths
Due the math and you can see that California being more pro active has saved lives.
Maybe your point of view is that "sone people will just die from it, so be it, not worth the restrictions"
Be safe during the Holiday Season!

Wow... just wow. You really went out of your way to make your political statement about (what we all know) is your pet peeve de jour? We all now know that,
1) Masks do not work.
2) Vax’s do not work.
3) Fatalities have been VASTLY incorrectly categorized & barely 9-11% are only attributed to covid.
4) Fauci, is a fraud.
5) The media driven mass hysteria & fear porn is the real virus & criminal here.

I just find it mildly ironic that the vast majority of the “COVID Karen’s” fearful sheep & the “stay home save lives” crowd are all of a certain age, political persuasion & demeanor that 30-40 years ago were the people protesting in the streets against the tyranny, oppression & over reach of the then government, screaming “my body my choice!” & were the same crowd just 3-4 years ago who were doing the same thing but burning down cities, assaulting law enforcement & again chanting “burn it all down.” These same folks now seem to have NO problem with a government that has truly highjacked our Constitutional rights, imposed illegal, unethical & outright oppressive mandates against businesses & the citizens, threatened their jobs over not taking an experimental drug (remember, my body my choice?) and finally believing that a sleeve torn off a T-shirt you got at Coachella back in 2017 will protect you from “THE DEADLIEST VIRUS OF ALL TIME!”

Ahhh, the joys of humanity.

"Covid Karen's" is correct. Less than 10 states have mask mandates. They've lifted the mandate or they never had one. Even 50% of California didn't have a mask mandate because it was per county. 90% of the country is unmasked. At this point, masks aren't necessary in a highly vaccinated county. Even the CDC said "once you're fully vaccinated, you don't have to wear a mask."

It should be left up to the individual. Government overreach and overprotective, hypocritical leaders that get caught without masks -- pathetic.
