9/11 National Day of Service

Original post made by Ken+mano, Willow West, on Sep 8, 2021

The mission is to transform the annual remembrance of 9/11 into a worldwide day of unity and doing good, and to encourage millions of people to remember and pay tribute each 9/11 through good deeds that help others and rekindle the extraordinary spirit of togetherness and compassion that arose in the immediate aftermath of the 9/11 tragedy.

The National 9/11 Day of Service Coalition includes many nonprofits, universities, veterans and military family organizations, and faith-based groups: Web Link

On this day, we encourage service to others and volunteerism, even if it is to your own family and neighbors. WWW.JustServe.org is one of the coalition partners, locally the JustServe website has over 80 local volunteer opportunities posted. You’ll find many ways to “give back” by entering your local Pleasanton or Dublin zip code.

These postings include local non-profits organizations, such as Hively, Open Heart Kitchen, Kids Against Hunger, the Red Cross, Blankets for Kids, Tri-Valley Haven, Senior Support of the Tri-Valley, the American Cancer Society Discovery Store and agencies to help Afghan refugees.

The hope is that we as members of our community can “give back”, not only on this 9/11 Day of Service, but each and every day. If you’ve had a desire to help, but didn’t know how to find organizations that have a need, check out www.JustServe.org
