Housing market over the Altamont in high demand as median home prices spike

As the demand for housing grows greater and as more families move out of the Bay Area, median home prices in neighboring San Joaquin County -- the next stop just east of the Altamont Pass -- are skyrocketing.

When you have inadequate water supplies already and we're in the midst of an extreme drought, it is negligent for lawmakers to approve large developments, forcing everyone to conserve even more while water suppliers raise their rates to recover lost income.
