Want to give my condolences to Tyrells family. No, I don’t know what it’s like to lose my child , nephew, brother, uncle, friend to a person whose job is to protect our communities however failed by gunning down a human being in cold blood.
Okay, I seen Tyrell had a tiny knife in his hand and that alone was such a huge threat that the officer had no choice but to murder him because he refused to drop the knife?
Open up your eyes people because all you are really doing is giving this officer and other officers the green light to kill Black and brown people unjustly.
Wait it’s justified because he had a knife and he may have thrown rocks at cars? His life is worth way more than the way he gunned in the street.
Where was the officers quick response to offer and life saving techniques to save this human being?
Oh yes, Tyrell was a living and breathing human being. Does being down on your luck and homeless mean your life worthless and shouldn’t matter?
Moreover, are you thinking well he should’ve just cooperated. Now think about all the times he experienced harassment by officers and how it affects everyone human beings psycho. Wait Tyrell wasn’t considered a human being? Tyrell couldn’t have have any mental illness even though it’s said he was homeless.
Now, let’s take away everything you like daily hygiene, shelter, grooming for 2 days. How would you feel mentally? Umm I answer Depressed! But no we can’t tell anything about this man we watched in this video because we were not there. Yeah right!
What will it take for Americans to view other Americans with black or brown skin as worthy or even as human?
Lastly, I’m a African American mother of four sons and I refuse to have a talk with them explaining to them that In America because of your skin you must accept being mistreated, oppressed, and understand US laws were created to oppress and not protect you. So sons just do whatever the officers tell you so you can stay alive.

The talk I had with my children- if a police officer ever tells you to do something, listen, they don’t know you from the scum of the earth they deal with daily. Don’t give them a reason to think you’re a threat to them.
Mr Tyrell had more than a tiny knife in his hand. Mr Tyrell continued to walk away from an officer that was addressing him, he then opened the knife and made movements towards the officer with it. That’s a threat, and between an officers life and anyone threatening them it’s a guaranteed outcome.
Now, that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t stop and challenge why this is, should we train and hold officers to a higher standard - just because they can defend themselves in this way, should it be?
Watching that video in context to all the other issues we’ve seen, yes, I think questioning if there’s a higher expectation of service needed with new training approaches to these situations we need to do that.
But I think it’s unreasonable to expect an officer to lay their life down for someone that’s attacking them.
We agree however Mr Tyrell should not have died. For the crimes he committed (or allegedly committed).
