What a Week: Anniversary debut for editor's new column

Original post made on Jan 29, 2021

This marks the debut of my new "What a Week" column, a spot for me to reflect biweekly on goings-on in the Tri-Valley with a tinge of opinion, even more subjectivity, and most importantly of all, perspective.

Dear Jeremy, I can't express enough how pleased my household is with the steps you are taking to return the Page 3 column to its original focus! I believe there is a huge thirst for thoughtful coverage of local news and events, including ways to support local businesses, celebrating academic excellence during very challenging times - the sort of local topics we are unlikely to find elsewhere. Delores Fox Ciardelli has proven an excellent partner in the rotation. On the other hand the move of Tim Talk out of this rotation - focusing his often provocative opinion to his internet blog, with only occasional appearances in the Opinion section, should do wonders. The tone and focus set on Page 3 impacts the flow of the entire edition that follows. Plus, there are so many immediate options to tap into divisive political sentiments available out there - online, on TV, in podcasts, etc., we really don't need that amplified in our community focused Weekly. I am elated to see the Pleasanton Weekly is shifting back towards the fundamentals of its successful roots. Thank you, and I look forward to reading your columns!

What a great move. I'm delighted you have chosen to embrace this new challenge and I'm truly looking forward to reading your columns and hearing your unique perspective on whatever local interesting topic you choose to address. Mazel Tov!
