We can all be grateful on this Thanksgiving Day for Mayor Thorne's 25 years of service to Pleasanton and wish him a speedy recovery from surgery. Thank you Jerry! And congratulations to Chris Miller for a well deserved award.

I would also like to congratulate Jerry on his exceptional service to the city, the city was always in great financial condition under his terms. One thing I know about is that he was always responsive whenever we asked him to speak or give a welcome at events like: Special Olympics, Make a Difference Day, Relay for Life, Community of Character awards and just showed up at many other events like a pancake breakfast honoring veterans and crystal apple awards for AV and FHS teachers and scouting events. One time I told a mom of a handicapped son who was receiving his Eagle to invite Jerry and she was surprised when he showed up with an award from the city. Sometimes he would just show up, never seeking or even expecting to be recognized.
