Appreciate law enforcement, but you are have to be crazy to get into California law enforcement today with the overall lack of support from the public.

Why isn't acting chief of Pleasanton police force in this photo?
Or, is there no longer an acting police chief in Pleasanton?

Where is the new hire Pleasanton Police chief?

This is the first time new recruits have been introduced to the Pleasanton community without a police chief in attendance!

There has to be an acting or interim police chief if the full time chief has not begin his employment yet. Someone has to lead the department and it can't function without its leader. The chief must have been there to swear them in, perhaps he just wasn't in the picture.

Pro-law, I completely agree. That and the changing laws where there is hardly any accountability for criminals. It can't be fun to be a police officer and have the public and politicians (like San Francisco's DA) look at you with the microscope instead of the criminal. Why become a cop in CA now? Crime in CA (that is a felony in other states with actual jail or prison time) is an offense here that will likely result in a citation that will be dismissed at a later time in the interest of justice. LAPD posted on their social media that they arrested a hit and run driver who killed someone. She was released with a citation! Crime is only getting worse and will continue to in this state with the lax laws. The police are treated like the criminals, whereas the actual criminals are given a smack on the wrist and released back into the public to victimize again.

I received an email this morning informing me that acting chief of police Craig Eicher did the swearing in for all three new recruits.

So where is our new Police Chief?

SIP in Morgan Hill, worrying about our 10 new (confirmed) cases of COVID-19, since April 19?

My guess is the supposed new chief either found out that his PERS pension spiking wouldn't net out as expected or the PPD found something that caused them to withdraw the offer.

Perhaps...............or is the rumor that there was a confirmed COVID-19 case within PPD actually true, and a related factor here?

But who really knows?

Perhaps PW could follow-up on their last (April 15) report that his on-boarding would be delayed until at least early May.

I love the police too, but they need to do something about all the un-zoned strawberry stands that are popping up all along the sidewalks on Valley....counted 2 today! It’s nasty...and the fruit guy was laying down on the sidewalk blocking it right by Crestline...go sell your fruit at the farmers market!

It’s crazy when a licensed hairstylist can’t open up with clean, safe protocols in California, or they will be stripped of their license, but some guy can cough all over fruit, touch it, and sell it on a residential corner for others to put in their mouths.

So are the rumors about the incoming police chief not being well-liked true? Why isn't he settling into the position? Seems rather strange.

There was an article on here last month saying the city manager had delayed his start date due to covid.

Any street vendor in Pleasanton is required to have a vendor permit. Some of the requirements include business license, health permit etc. Violation of municipal code, violator can be cited, and fines start at $100.00.

Thanks JB! The Pleasanton police were notified yesterday and did nothing. The guy is back on the corner of Valley by the tennis park blocking the sidewalk on Valley with his hot nasty fruit, making it impossible for kids and people to walk past him while social distancing, without walking into oncoming Valley traffic. His partner is parked in front of the Tennis Park on Paseo Santa Cruz in an unlicensed white van. Maybe the police should experience some budget cuts as they can manage to harass kids on play structures and enforce closed play areas, but allow this blatant and unsafe food vendor in a Pandemic!
