Valley Views: Valentine to last a lifetime

Original post made on Feb 14, 2020

This column is really a love story. My grief was only possible because of the happiness of my long marriage. I am sorry fate prevented us from growing old as a couple but looking back over my love-filled life, I cannot complain.

I so appreciated the Valentine Story...this is my first Day without my wonderful husband who lost his battle with Parkinson's and dementia this past June...altho I do not have a celebratory cake pan I do have many years of saved Tom would always find a beautiful card and write romantic words and at some point today will bring out every card he gave me and find the is in a special frame in our bedroom and I taped to the back his sweet words..I cared for my Tom for at least 7 years as the diseases took their toll and kept him home with help of caregivers...I too like Dolores feel so sad as to not be able to grow old with him but he was a sweetheart..Every Love Story is Beautiful But ours Is My Favorite...

Hi Dolores,
I just wanted to say thankyou for so eloquently depicting how my life has also changed with my husband's passing last Spring after a several years long battle with a rare lung disease. I, too, feel that profound sadness, not depression. Your description and explanation of how every part of your life is affected, is so exactly how I feel. And, seeing it now written in your beautiful gentle words gives an acceptance to how I feel, and I'm very grateful to you for that. I will be saving your article and am sure I will be comforted by reading it now and then. Thankyou.
