If you are still unsure as to why our state ((California) is going over the cliff, look no further than California’s own: Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schiff, Eric Swalwell, Maxine Waters and more. Their disingenuous attempt to prove President Trump was working for the Russians failed- The DNC was found working with them. Their attempt to show President Trump was working with the Ukrainians failed- The DNC was found working with them to overthrow the election. Now their coup to overthrow the President with impeachment has failed.

If you want the existential (Democrats love that word) overview of the partisan coup attempt to overthrow this President take a listen to Senator McConnell’s 31 minute and 41 second speech today. Web Link McConnell puts it succinctly.

California is fading because our supposed leadership is incompetent to govern. They fail to see clearly, truthfully, and honorably. Just imagine (John Lennon) what this state could be absent these malcontents.

Nasty Nancy...funniest politician ever. Each time she opens her mouth she spreads joy by making people laugh. The John Durham investigation is what is important, not this shameful coup which even Pelosi admits began over 2 years ago.

The demographics will continue to shift against the old white Pleasanton crowd. More immigrants. Less religion. More science. A social safety net we'll have to pay for, because the option is far less palatable than massive disparity. More socialism, and more equal treatment for all. The votes are spreading. The demographic numbers aren't lying.

The white conservatives are so afraid of that change, they are willing to ignore an obvious crime of the President in trying to coerce foreign governments to help his election. They are that afraid of the end of their way of life.

I have news for you. The 1950's aren't coming back. And you are about to be crushed under the wheels of change, that I absolutely think is long overdue. And thanks for being so vocal during your last gasp. We will all remember who you are when your last finger slips from grip. This has been repeated in history over, and over again. I'm enjoying the change.

Hi Bill -

First I did not vote for Donald Trump - nor did I vote for Hillary Clinton. I'm registered non-partisan because I find both parties offensive in their own special ways. It's disappointing that a country of 300 million people can only come up with Hillary and Donald as our only choices for president.

Exactly what law was broken? Please make it an exact quote.

I watched most of the televised proceedings over the last many weeks and it's not real clear to me what law was broken.

I also have a hard time getting over the fact, yes fact, that the Democrats have been working to impeach Donald Trump since the minute it was announced he beat Hillary Clinton. If you deny this - you have not been listening.

What I see is an extreme hatred of Donald Trump and extreme politics.

Yes, he is mean spirited.

Yes, he is gross, rude and disrespectful.

He is a typical New York a##h&le.

But none of this is against the law.

And now the House is deciding to delay (cancel??) delivering the articles of impeachment to the Senate because they know he won't be found guilty.

More political games. If he is such a danger to our national security, our constitution and every American citizen - why wait?

And regarding your hateful comments about old white people - your just showing your as big a racist as you claim white people to be.

Racism is not all about hateful white people. Every race, creed, religion has a subgroup of prejudiced people. It human nature. And I've been exposed to just as many racist "non-white" as I have white racists - and I was educated at a southern university.

I think the KEY word here is in the 2nd. Paragraph, 2nd. word: ALLEDGEDLY This key word does NOT say crime, only speculation or wishful thinking. See Supposedly, purportedly, avowedly and professedly..........

It is so sad that Ca Congressional Members voted to impeach based on orders from Pelosi, and NOT the good folks that elected them to REPRESENT them, and not Pelosi. How can smart people vote on hearsay, flat out lies, and support Nadler who was falling asleep as Chair on National TV. Worse yet is Shiff. The folks in his district should vote that liar out, or recall him. I do hope it goes the full distance in the Senate, with REAL witnesses that have credibility, and not just opinion oriented so called professors. I believe FACTS will be coming soon, so this waste of time impeachment "process" will come to an end...... As for SOCIALIST oriented comments, just look at ANY country that has gone this route, and where they are now. Life has experience's as we get older, and what the younger people will learn down the road that they are DEAD wrong on the USA going the Socialist route.

Wow, Bill, that's a lotta convoluted rhetoric. I guess you're gonna have a problem with the Democrat Party because they seem to be trotting out a lot of "old white people" on the debate stage. The sad thing is that you parade your hypocrisy with pride.

What a great point.

If the Dems were not racists, why have they denied support to all the non-whites, except of course the one Asian Amrican.

But then the Dems hate the Asians as much as the old white people. They are afraid of the Asians because they have strong work ethic and perform much better academically than all the other "non-whites".

I think Republicans are making the mistake of thinking that the Democratic Party, like the GOP, is unified and that representatives vote with the leader. The GOP is a well-oiled top-down corporate machine. The Democratic Party is a clown car of different and conflicting interests. They did not order people to vote. They couldn’t if they tried.

As for socialism, what the Democratic socialists are arguing for is Scandinavian style socialism, not Latin American leftist dictatorship style. I don’t think they can achieve what they want, but let’s not confuse the two because they could share a label. A boxer and a chihuahua are both dogs, but I want a boxer on my side in a fight.

The Democrats are holding off sending the articles over out of fear—that is correct. They’ll disagree with what the fear is, and state that it’s that the Senate is a kangaroo court of acquittal. That’s a reasonable fear.

I’m just sad for our country that it came to this. Impeachment is not a minor thing. It is the Constitution’s escape hatch. Clinton lied and deserved impeachment, though not removal. Trump probably deserves the same...I’d agree that he did a lot wrong, but since he’s EXACTLY what his voters wanted, then I can’t claim that removal is appropriate.

What a strange and terrible time to be witnessing...

"Clinton lied and deserved impeachment, though not removal.

Clinton didn't 'lie'. He perjured himself and for that he was impeached. He also lost his law license but who are we kidding, he wasn't ever going to be practicing again.

"Trump probably deserves the same...I’d agree that he did a lot wrong,"

Trump didn't perjure himself and BROKE NO LAWS other than being elected over a terrible Democrat candidate in Clinton.

Please specify the HIGH CRIME and MISDEMEANORs he is being accused and specify HOW he broke them? I'll certainly follow up.

"but since he’s EXACTLY what his voters wanted, then I can’t claim that removal is appropriate."

So he 'deserves' removal, but somehow you can't claim his "removal is appropriate"?

These seem to be in conflict, no?

Why don't you just come out and admit that this has all been a sh-t show from the democrats? That they are trying to dispose of this president only because they can't explain to their voters how they lost with Clinton?

Why be so dishonest?

@Bill

I find your constant reference about ‘white’ to be offensive and racist. You should be very familiar with that judgement because your party wakes up and goes to bed screaming it about everything. You do remember the man that spoke: “ I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.” Was he speaking singularly or globally?

Change is coming again Bill, and you are not going to like it. Where ever you get your data or polls, which is probably from your Russian outlet: CNN or MSNBC, it will slip through your fingers as in the past. You see Bill, America is resilient, strong, and moving down the highway at a great speed, so you probably should get back up on the sidewalk. We have serious matters to fix, and I believe your seriousness has lasted about 15 minutes.

I’m glad this was televised, it really shows the sh1tshow Congress is. I don’t like Trump, but this is all about finding a means to an end and that is more dangerous than the conversation Trump had or the charges (or accusations) against him here.

I really think we are seeing the worst of politicians, so hellbent on political motive they’ll do anything to win. Dems are in the wrong, they’re opening every future president to impeachment because the other party doesn’t like him/her. Congress will become an impeachment machine and we will be the only losers as nothing we care about will get done.

We need to get back to critical thinking and acceptance for good ideas regardless of where they originated as well as criticism of bad. Today it’s being taught you have to agree with all or reject all. And look what we have As a result polarizing social and political actions

Thanks for the link, Urmomz. Looks like good reading, especially for Trump supporters who seem to be lost on what this impeachment is all about since they apparently think that Trump is being impeached simply “because Democrats don’t like him” or “because Democrats hate him”, which is the simplistic and childish rhetoric that they’re reading on conservative web sites like Fox News and Breitbart. It would be good for Trump supporters to expand their reading base beyond those web sites and try to make an honest effort to understand why Trump is being impeached and think for themselves rather than just parroting stock phrases being used by Hannity, Limbaugh, and other conservative pundits.

And, yes, Trump supporters, it’s pretty obvious where you all get most or all of your views because whenever you come up with spouting off some bizarre, false twist of the facts and I wonder where you could have possibly have gotten such bizarre, false information, I nearly always find out that you’re just parroting some ideas that originally came from Hannity, Limbaugh, Alex Jones, etc.. Here’s some advice: Try to read other news sources and think for yourself for a change instead of being just a Hannity parrot. Your brain can use the exercise.

You know its possible to support the office of the President and not be a "Trump supporter" right? Oh of course you don't.....its all or nothing.

Perhaps you should watch the entire broadcast of the impeachment hearings, not just the CNN, MSN, or FOX clips.

The precedent being set will establish a new level of impeachment hearings for every President to come.

Ian -

Now I will ask you - what law was broken?

Which law was every single Democrat shown on TV referring to when they said "No one is above the law?

As I stated in my original post, I did not vote fro Trump nor Hillary. I do not support either party.

I do support "the rule of law", which I guess is a dirty phrase here in CA with the "Resistance" and "Sanctuary State". Seems to me people who support these ideas believe they are "above the law".

Why bother to do the work to change laws or amend the Constitution when you can just ignore the law?

Contrary to your belief that I need to go back to my US Civics class, I disagree.

I believe it is you and everyone else that is in support of what has been going on for the last 3 years that need a civics refresher.

Rather than having the strength, open mindedness and willingness to work with others you don't agree with to come up with the best compromise to benefit the entire country, you've taken the lazy approach.

You can close your eyes and ears to what has been going on because of your hatred of President Trump, but this has changed forever what our politics and country will be.

Both Democrats AND Republicans are to blame, along with all of the mindless partisans that refuse to step back and take an honest look at what has been going on.

Yes, this is a sad, sad day......but for an entirely different reason than what the Speaker of the House believes.

BTW -

I did see the post about what laws were broken.

The only thing I will say to that it if all those laws were broken, why didn't they get included in the Article of Impeachment?

Perhaps because impeachment is a political action, nor a legal action?

Perhaps because the "evidence" is just a bunch of assumptions / second guessing / etc.?

Your wishful thinking is one thing. A rational belief is another thing.

Here’s a fact for you to consider: About half the country wants to see Trump impeached and removed from office. Not a great position to be in for a President facing re-election.

No law needs to be broken for a President to be impeached. Impeachment is not a criminal trial. Gross Abuse of the Office of the President is sufficient.

Wombat -

Then why were all the Democrats stating "No one is above the law" in the comments they made in support of impeachment?

As I stated, this is political, not legal.

Stating "Gross Abuse of the Office of the President is sufficient" without supporting details is a bunch of BS.

It's not about President Trump being an "existential threat" to our Constitution, national security and every American.

It's about the Democrats hating Donald Trump and hating the fact that he won the 2016 election.

Oh, and they say Hillary really should be president because she won the popular vote.

But there is that darn Constitution (and the electoral college) in the way again. We'll just ignore that, and get rid of President Trump anyway.

If we are going to remove the President of the United States, the leader of the free world, seems there should be a little more serious attention to the details and actually find something "real".

@“What Law Was Broken” wrote “Then why were all the Democrats stating "No one is above the law" in the comments they made in support of impeachment?”

You thought that the phrase “No one is above the law” literally means that a specific criminal statute was broken? Do you not see how the phrase “No one is above the law” may apply to a situation where, for example, a President tried to claim that there is nothing wrong with his trying to abuse the powers of the Office of the President to mount a personally motivated attack against a political opponent?

Your own Republican Senator Lindsey Graham stated the situation well:

“You don’t even have to be convicted of a crime to lose your job in this constitutional republic if this body determines that your conduct as a public official is clearly out of bounds in your role. Impeachment is not about punishment. Impeachment is about cleansing the office. Impeachment is about restoring honor and integrity to the office.”

Wombat, do you have a degree in law? Or are you just spouting off from "down under"...isn't that the native land of the wombat?
The dems are after The President because they "think" he is trying to sway the 2020 election, but that is exactly what they are doing with this impeachment attempt. And by the way The President has not been impeached. The articles have not been sent to the Senate.
This is all political because the dems have nothing to counter Trump's successes. Much to their dismay, the Left Coast and the Right Coast do not control this country...that is why the framers of the constitution were wise enough to have the electoral college. Smart guys...saw the future!
And the election will come down to economics...it always does.

Did you ever apologize for posting that false far-right conspiracy claim, Michael? Did you try to ever correct yourself with a follow-up statement after you realized that you repeated some far-right nonsense? No, you just quietly slithered away. You didn’t even have the integrity to man up and admit that you made the mistake of repeating an attempted far-right smear of Adam Schiff after I pointed out to you that the claim was debunked by multiple fact checkers. And I’ll bet that you don’t have the integrity to ever apologize for your latest far-right conspiracy claim of “50 million illegal voters”, either.

We’ll see if you’re still in love with the electoral college when Texas goes Blue. Or are you not aware that the demographics and political leaning of Texas is turning quickly due to all of the young, well educated, liberal voters who are moving to large Texas cities because of all the high-tech jobs there?

“Texas Going Purple” - front page cover title, NEWSMAX, 2019
“Once solid Red, the Lone Star State is turning QUICKLY”

I’ll leave it to you to do the arithmetic of what a solid Blue Wall of California plus Texas together will mean for the chances of any Republican for President. But remember: You love the Electoral College system, right?

I would not try to overturn the will of the people. I want the president, no matter what party, to do well because that means the American people do well. First, President Trump can legally state or tweet that he has not been Impeached. Impeachment occurs when the Democrats (House Of Representatives) present it to the Senate along with those from the House that they have identified as Managers. Even their own kind realize there are no crimes. Just a sad display of incompetence that we have observed for 3 years. Don’t let any of these ill-informed commenters tell you different. They get their news from Don Lemon and Christ Cuomo. The Democratic Party has taken on the plan to dumb down America.

Secondly, as Brexit went (again) so will Trump (again). The left will have to endure him for four more years after next November, but because of the great work he is doing, they will remain quiet as not to let on about their hypocrisy.

Trump will go down in history as a great President side-by-side with Lincoln. Obama will carry the evil mark of the worst President in American history as the administration that attempted a coup of a sitting President.

I enjoy watching the Democratic Party eat itself. It warms my soul.
