I don't understand why the parade is simply canceled and that is it. The city should reschedule the parade for next Saturday the 14th. I'm from the East Coast where every parade has a rain make-up date.

It is absurd that all of the people worked so hard on floats for the parade to simply be canceled. The city needs to reschedule it for next weekend. Sure, there might be some bands that have other events scheduled that weekend; however, it will be great for the community to go ahead and have the parade.

From now on they should have a planned rain makeup date like most other cities do.

Re-scheduling the parade makes sense. Why disappoint people when a parade can easily be re-scheduled. Plan the re-schedule date in advance and make sure participants can attend both dates.

Re schedule the parade already! Too many people have put too much work into this. If it rains oh well, deal with it. This is California rain, not back East rain. Anybody ever hear of umbrellas?

Wimps! Livermore did not cancel their parade.Rain or shine was their policy. It was pouring rain at 5:30, but just before the parade started at 6, as if by some divine appointment, it stopped. We had a great time. Thank you Livermore!

Come on. Reschedule it this coming Saturday. It is only right that a little rain does not cause the entire Holiday parade to be canceled. There are so few parades in Pleasanton anyway...no homecoming parades, etc. like other towns have.

I hope the mayor and city leaders do the right thing and reschedule the parade!

Rescheduling the parade is hugely complicated. City employees, vendors, rentals, the high school bands, the list goes on and on. It's not just about telling the organizations hey come down next week instead.

Should there be a scheduled rain date in advance in the future? Probably. But trying to reschedule at the last minute is pretty close to impossible.

City officials just announced that the tree-lighting will be rescheduled (this Friday 12/13 at 5 p.m.) but the parade will not be taking place in 2019.
