I would hardly categorize the suspect's criminal history as "minor" based on online records Web Link

I would appreciate it if the Pleasanton Weekly would update the story with the facts.

Along with a recent arrest on June 18th in Livermore (why is this criminal even on the streets after only being arrested 2 1/2 weeks ago), there are four previous arrests going back to 2016 in Alameda County, San Joaquin County as well as Livermore:

Resist / Obstruct / Delay Peace Officer
Assault w/Deadly Weapon Or Assault w/Force Likely To Produce GBI
Addict in Possession of Firearm
Possession Of Ammunition
Carry Concealed Weapon in Vehicle
Carry Loaded Firearm When Not the Registered Owner.
Carry Stolen Loaded Firearm
Knowing Concealed Firearm was Stolen
Resist / Obstruct / Delay Peace Officer
Assault w/Deadly Weapon Or Assault w/Force Likely To Produce GBI
Addict in Possession of Firearm
Carry Loaded Firearm While Participating in a Gang.
Resist / Obstruct / Delay Peace Officer
Assault w/Deadly Weapon Or Assault w/Force Likely To Produce GBI

Someone with 5 arrests in a period of 3 years is not what I would call minor. Not sure if Goard is only aware of the Livermore arrests and not the San Joaquin and Alameda County arrests....

Police have got to get this guy off the streets before he shoots and kills again. In the process of locating and arresting this terrible person, I want the police to take down and arrest everyone that has aided and abetted his run from the long arm of the law.

Well Pleasanton Parent, is someone suggesting that he’s mentally ill or is that just a cheap slight for those who have had mental breaks and well, lost their lives because of it ? Is that what you are referring to ? Clever.

Refer to California AB 109. Our state leaders and their wisdom. It’s not a police thing as they are just as frustrated with a catch and release system too.

Gsc,
It's a slight at societal displacement of personal accountability.

He got out because he is an illegal. DA is not pursuing charges against any of them

PP, it was a cheap shot and made with a heart three sizes too small. You often make great points on many topics, but here you have a consistent miss.

IF the shooter is an illegal alien criminal as reported the young America Citizen who he shot and killed is a victim of progressive leftist politics .. sanctuary city policy in itself IMO equals treason .. how even one rational person can support sanctuary cities is beyond me .. it has lead to increase in violent crimes and deaths os our fellow Americans .. sorry but cheap labor so some can make more cash is NO reason .. #kateslaw

He probably fled to San Francisco or Mexico by now. Where he knows he'll be safe.

Safe in San Francisco or Mexico???? Sounds like he is safe anywhere in California. He will claim mental illness and end up getting taxpayer fronted housing, a tuition free education, and an early release. I feel sorrow for the victim’s family. This State is going down the toilet.

Emanuel was a sweet and brilliant boy. He was smart and wonderful, I called him Mr President because he had the ability to read a situation and really be diplomatic and smart. He was in Livermore to take advantage of the opportunities and to grow as a person. I appreciate all of the passion on the thread and I would really appreciate it if all of the energy could help to find this man who shot a sweet sweet boy. All help is appreciated. My heart is broken right now

Where has it been reported hes an illegal immigrant? We shouldn't fuel that fire irresponsibly. If in fact he is, that's an important fact to take back to the political arena, but makes this families loss no better or worse at this time.

Web Link:

"Addict in Possession of Firearm... Possession Of Ammunition... Carry Concealed Weapon in Vehicle... Carry Loaded Firearm When Not the Registered Owner... Carry Stolen Loaded Firearm... Addict in Possession of Firearm... Carry Loaded Firearm While Participating in a Gang..."

All the strict California gun laws are a joke if a person with this many gun-related arrests can freely roam the streets until he kills somebody...

You are misunderstanding Cali guns. The purpose of the laws are to disarm law abiding citizens so that the government can have their way with us. Laws against illegal gangbangers is racist. Alway remember one thing. In California carrying a concealed weapon without a permit is a misdemeanor.

Why are so many people here randomly guessing?

No one gave reason to believe the shooter is mentally ill, or that anyone would believe that claim anyway. Most people who make the claim in defense in California are found sane by the process you claim is broken. I understand the desire to blow off steam at our poor system of mental health and weak laws in this state. But this case is not about mental health, and not even about addiction as a health issue. Addiction doesn't make a person join a gang.

No one gave reason to believe he is illegal. It's the height of racism to suspect that a person of Hispanic descent (as the article describes) is also an illegal alien, or even an alien. For all we know, he's a Californio and his family has been here longer than you.

What we do know is that he's suspected of being a gang member, an addict, someone who carries guns likely to use them for a crime, and now a murderer.

I have no reason to believe that, once he's found, he will end up a convict for all of the above and will lose his freedom. Prosecutors do this sort of job extremely well.

The shooter is evil and, when found, will be held to account. My heart goes out to the victim's family. And I think everyone should not complain about things they can't possibly know to be true.

This was my son's best friend and our family is heartbroken. I hate to see this whole incident being so politicized. Please pray for comfort for those of us that have lost this amazing young man forever.
