Cal High alum, daughter of SRVUSD board president dies in car crash

Madeline "Maddie" Hurd, a 2015 California High School graduate and the daughter of San Ramon Valley Unified School District Board of Education President Rachel Hurd, was in her senior year working toward a bachelor's degree in recreation at Western Washington University. She was 21 years old.

This is extremely sad - what a vibrant and loving young woman Maddie was. She came from a great family; Rachel Hurd is a pillar of our community. I cannot begin to imagine her grief. My heart goes out to them, and I will include Maddie in my prayers.
