Art patrons Gary and Nancy Harrington have yet another idea for Pleasanton: a Cultural Arts Park that will celebrate and embrace the city’s diversity.
“The idea of a cultural park has been on our mind for several years as Pleasanton steadily grows in prosperity as well as diversity,” Nancy Harrington wrote in a letter to supporters recently. “Businesses thrive, education levels advance, and cultural diversity progresses.”
The Harringtons are envisioning a well-landscaped park with serene winding paths lined with sculptures and noted there is a possible site at Hacienda. They have talked to leaders in the city and at Hacienda Business Park and report enthusiasm for the concept, but they need to know if there is public support.
The Harringtons are asking those who agree with their concept to contact the Pleasanton City Council by Dec. 14 since it meets in early 2019 to set the city’s project priorities.

I would definitely recommend and enjoy more public art.
You would think our city leaders and others would find and demand space for new schools first.!
Did Gary and Nancy ever consider that more help and affordable homes for seniors in Pleasanton is a more critical need than another esoteric art project? Priorities!
Goes to show you that the Mayor and his puppets are off to another useless
expense forgetting the needs and priorities of the City. It’s like building another ” Wall ” when there are more serious needs and upkeep of the City of Pleasanton. Better things to spend good money on!
This sounds like a great idea. More public artwork and cultural venues in Pleasanton would be a good thing.
People suggesting above that a project like this would somehow preclude building a new school or senior housing should realize this would be a much smaller scale thing. It isn’t either/ or. Also, the decision by the Pleasanton Unified School district to build a new school would not be affected by this.
How about permit parking for residents living near the ACE lot. pretty sad I leave a 4am for work and when I come home, I cannot park anyplace near my house since the ACE people have no respect and have taken ALL spots on ther streets including blocking people driveways. Can’t park down on Peters as it is Lunhtime and all those spots are taken as well. So I am stuck parking my car near the library and walking the three blocks homes and then eventually moving my vehicle when ACE starts dumping its passengers off Come on City of Ptown–permit parking please.
