Not the first violent crime in our parks related to drug dealing and probably not the last. While this is still a safe town, drug dealing has been going on in parks for years and it's not surprising to see violent crimes when people blantantly deal drugs in public. Safeway is another known hot spot.

Great job by PPD in quickly closing out this case. It would be nice to see aggressive policing in known trouble spots even if that doesn't result in convictions. Have some of the volunteer patrols sit in their marked cars (with radios to dispatch) and have officers increase patrols in the parks when they aren't running calls.

I understand the frustration of officers given prop 47 and 57. They see the same repeat offenders day in and day out. Don't waste time trying to make arrests for "low level" drug crimes. Create a high profile to encourage dealers to conduct their trade elsewhere.
