Foothill principal tapped to lead San Ramon Valley High

Jason Krolikowski, principal of Foothill High School since 2013, is leaving the district next school year after being appointed as the new principal of San Ramon Valley High in Danville.

With a 66% turn over in 2 years it seems that we should be looking at the district and the board. Something is wrong.

You get what you vote for. New Board might be the answer. Voucher system a thought. But maybe this guy just wants to return to his old school district, one better than tbis one.

PUSD loss is SRVUSD gain. I see more leaving to move to a better, less problematic school district with twice the student population, twice the schools and like 3x the budget.

Twice the budget, twice the schools and 3x the budget, yet Pleasanton Unified School District is #13 best in the state while SRVUSD is rated 27th.

Yet another data point proving that $ spent on facilities does not equal success in the class.

This is typical of every school district. I work in San Ramon Unified School District and we have our share of principals leaving for other school districts too. PUSD is still a great school district. Change is not always a negative. I am very happy my son is attending Foothill next year, despite the change, it could be a great new leadership!

With every shift, these same questions of blame arise. Time to take notice that these changes are normal. Even at SRVHS- where Krolikowski will be the 4th principal in 3 yrs! We wish him well in his new community.

Ah, but that wasn't what the point of JustHere's comment.

He/she was clearly saying that SRVSD was "better", his quote. I clearly demonstrated that it wasn't as measured academically.

These changes are not normal. This sounds like ridiculous quotes from school board members that have been in the Pleasanton Weekly. What a absurd statement that is.

The principal at Foothill committed to the Pleasanton Weekly reporter that he was going to stay at Foothill for a long time, that he was here to stay, and he was going to stay as long as he could (as long as he was wanted or as long as possible).

But obviously, with all the turmoil and churn and awful management of the school district here, including the ridiculous alleged email that apparently had Rubino thrown under the bus by the school board within 48 hours, no sane person would want to: 1) be hired by Pleasanton Unified or 2) stay with Pleasanton Unified.

No one would risk getting their reputation trashed as has happened repeatedly by the absolutely terrible management of Pleasanton Unified. Or internet postings from what appears to be school personnel on Topix and other forums comparing administrators to miniature farm animals (Bantam chickens and roosters). And the rampant charges of sexual harassment that abounds suddenly all over the district? Who would want to put up with that?

The bottom line is that principal turnover at Pleasanton Unified has been 2/3 of the schools within 18 months, which is a higher turnover than found in the lowest poverty/highest crime area school districts in the nation.

And what superintendent in their right mind would apply to a school district who goes through 4, yes 4 superintendents in the same time period? Who would want to work for that Board? Would any of you? Probably not.

Good riddance Mr K! You were not an effective administrator. You were not in touch with your student or parent population. You should have been proactive or aware that Amador was researching (and will be implementing) a new block schedule next year. Where were you when this was happening just across town? Please let's hope PUSD promotes from within this time instead of recruiting from another district. I'm sick of new hires using PUSD as a stepping stone.

Wow. I grew up in Pleasanton and graduated almost 40 years ago, and it seems nothing changes. Same dramatic nonsense, with the only people able to make substantive change are the ones who benefit from the madness. Simple solution.

Spilt the board into four sections of seats, with two seats in each section (if you need to expand the number of Board members, fine. It should not be a full-time career position anyway.

Each of the four sections serves for four years, with a one-term limit, with each section being re-filled with new members in consecutive years. This insures two things: no one stays too long, and the Board is always filled with Members familiar with the issues.

You know, the way it was originally intended des for Congress to work!

His parent letter--which I very much appreciated receiving prompty, before reading it in the newspaper--read as though he was lured away by a school he loved. He was at Foothill for 4 years--longer than many high achievers spend in stepping stone roles before moving up in corporate. He did some much-needed housecleaning by listening to parents and students. Sometimes the grass is greener and no one is at fault.

The grass is greener in most surrounding districts than Pleasanton because the fault is directly the trustees/school board's fault in Pleasanton.

It is no surprise that the survey results from the general public show the general public does not trust them.

The school board refuses to own the problems they themselves created and fostered. They have created an environment where they are in the business of ruining reputations of staff members based on flimsy sexual harassment/hostile work environment emails and claims.

They are not accountable to the public, just the unions.
They can't retain principals.
They can't retain teachers.
They can't retain students (enrollment is declining).

Mr. K. is a class act. He handled a very difficult situation his first year at FHS with compassion and professionalism, to which I thank him very much. He has done right by my family, and my kid respects him very much! Best of luck, Mr. K. FHS students, staff and parents are loosing a great leader!

I think there are other issues to worry about, drugs, bullying, depression, stress.... I wish we would focus more inside our homes than outside. Ask your parents if your entire school career was drama free, doubt it! Pleasanton is a wonderful place. Our kids will get the education they strive for. There are plenty of wonderful teachers and counselor there to assist them if they want it. Enjoy your kids, their childhood is short.
