Unarmed Teen Shot in Back in Chicago

Original post made by Pleasanton Parent, Pleasanton Meadows, on Aug 6, 2016

Our priorities are misplaced. The headline should read, Car Thief Dies Trying to Run Over Police with Stolen Car.

The criminal should not have died, he should not have tried to run over a police officer and flee.

This doesn't mean the police department shouldn't review their actions and correct/improve. But if you attack a police officer you're risking your own life.

This doesn't mean there aren't bad police officers that haven't abused their positions, there are, and they need to be prosecuted.

But our overall temperament or approach is wrong - dangerously so. "unarmed" is not synonymous with "innocent".

Would a title of "Unarmed Car Thief Shot in the Back and Dies after trying to run over Police with Stolen Car" make you happy?
