Maybe they should fix the 580W to 680S interchange. Can they design it any worse? Instead of adding a carpool lane it would have been better to address the real problem which is the interchange. With the carpool lane traffic just gets to the bottleneck faster and that's about it.
Traffic engineers are probably the dumbest people in the world. All 580W traffic issues could have been resolved by redoing the 580W to 680S transition. No extra lanes were needed.
Weird how 3 gas burning cars burst into flames, which is common, yet when a Tesla catches fire it makes world news and people act like they're the most dangerous cars in the world.
And who designed the 92 East carpool lane to 880 North. Worst design EVER. Really? merging two high volume lanes in the middle lane of the 880N. This causes a constant backup of traffic. Terrible design.

I missed this accident by 20 minutes (I was ahead of it). Perhaps best fix is to close the hopyard onramp. When one needs 580W you take your life in your hands trying to scoot over 3 lanes. Was bad before they did the silly toll fast lane, now worse.
Whomever designed should find a career someplace else that doesn't involve automobiles.
