I hope so. Hope that the planning people took a hint from the unpopularity of the Muirwood dog park with nothing but wood chips on the ground and decided to put in some grass this time.

They better NOT plant any grass there. Those of us who have given up our lawns in order to save water will not tolerate the waste of watered grass just for dogs to poop on.

I believe that Pleasanton Parks (and the dog park, too) all use recycled water.

Money spent that could go to the homeless and children that are hungry...........

Wonderful, and there are those who want to oppose the Costco development. We need businesses like these to help offset the dog park. The park doesn't bring in revenue, it is just money pit.

Yes, we should get rid of all parks. And any piece of land that does not bring in revenue. The ridge line? Huge potential for revenue. Get ridge of those parks on the ridge that just suck money from the region.

Eventually those ridge lines will go also. Just look at Dublin. They will have to go because we need the money.

I looked at the plans for the dog park and it appears there will be no grass for the dogs to play on. 1.5 acres of dogs kicking up hot dusty wood chips is not acceptable.
This will be a total waste of taxpayers money because nobody will take their dog there. Check out the Muirwood dog park!! Ask any veterinarian about the hazards of dogs running and playing on wood chips. I wish the city had asked for input from the citizens about the layout and design. We need to start a petition immediately to stop this project.

Muirwood is a perfect example of a useless dog park. Wood chips are awful for paws and difficult for owners to walk on, let alone for cleaning up after their pets.

If you want grass for your dogs then how about YOU paying for the grass and the laying of the water pipes and the actual water. The rest of us have to put up with your dogs being taken everywhere as it is, your special little doggie park is up to you to pay for.

I hope that you're wrong. If it doesn't have grass, then it's a failure as a dog park.

Save, there is some income from pets; they have to be licensed by the city. Someone else pointed out the park will use purple pipes. I am willing to pay when I go to the park; it's worth it if it is indeed a decent park. You should be more upset that a park with bark will get built and not be used.

I checked with the Park and Rec department and the surface will be an engineered wood chip. I've actually felt it and it's very different than the usual wood chips you find. Lots of dog parks are using it because it's really easy on dog paws and is easy to clean up and replace. The city couldn't install grass because it would be impossible to keep alive and it would have required a lot of water. Dublin had grass at their dog park and wound up replacing it.
